Ted Kennedy 1980 presidential campaign

  • ... that when Senator Ted Kennedy announced his presidential campaign he was leading President Jimmy Carter 2-to-1 in polling, but quickly decreased? "KENNEDY AND CARTER IN 1980 RACE". Newsweek. May 27, 1979.

Created by Jon698 (talk). Self-nominated at 01:23, 2 March 2020 (UTC).

  • The article was created back in November 2019‎ making it completely ineligible. But this can be nominated under moved to the main page from draft. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 16:47, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
  • CAPTAIN MEDUSA, as a reviewer you should check to see whether the article qualifies as new, and this one does since it was moved to mainspace on February 26, which in fact makes it completely eligible. While it is nice if the nominator selects the best category, doing so is confusing enough that this doesn't always happen, and the fact remains that this was created by the nominator and qualifies for DYK. Please continue your review on that basis; we never request a renomination when an article was eligible when it was nominated. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:04, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Looks like CAPTAIN MEDUSA has dropped this review so I'll take it.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - I see "2-to-1" polling is used in the lead, but I can't find the phrase in the body of the article, or a synonymous fact ("34% approval"?), with an inline citation.
  • Interesting: No - I'm not convinced that the hook is written in a particularly interesting way; we could reword it, or use the potential alt below.

QPQ: No - I believe you're at five DYK credits, and for the sixth one we require that you review someone else's DYK nomination (if you've done one, I don't see it).
Overall:

Thank you for taking up the review @Bilorv:. I have reviewed Template:Did you know nominations/Edith Anna Ellis to reset my DYK credit and I like the alt that you made. - Jon698 (talk) 00:27, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
But can it be stated like this: - Jon698 (talk) 00:35, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
Yep, looks good to me: ALT2 approved. — Bilorv (talk) 01:07, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
