Self-Ish

Created by Koopastar (talk). Number of QPQs required: 0. Nominator has less than 5 past nominations.

  • Article is both new and long enough. No copyright violation. Article is presentable. Both sources are cited, one with one with a local newspaper and a student newspaper. No QPQ necessary. I feel the ALT1 is more interesting. I also think it might make more sense, in the original proposal, for the word "express" to be replaced with the word "portray" or "depict". Overall a solid nomination. RoundSquare (talk) 06:19, 23 September 2024 (UTC).
  • Adding tick so this hopefully gets more eyes.  — Chris Woodrich (talk) 00:19, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Some new hooks:

Also notable that Self-Ish was recently moved by a user to SELF-iSH, so I've created the hooks with this new stylization as redirects aren't allowed. Hopefully these new hooks work for DYK. Koopastar (talk) 00:21, 25 October 2024 (UTC

@Koopastar: Not ALT0a per WP:DYKHOOKBLP; I would have taken ALT2 personally, but a similar hook was declined offhand recently at It's OK I'm OK and I want to hear their reasoning first, as it is more interesting than ALT3. While you're waiting, I recommend expanding the lead section.--Launchballer 13:06, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
@Koopastar: Looking to approve ALTs 2 and 3. What makes Newnoisemagazine.com and Mycentraljersey.com reliable?--Launchballer 15:22, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
@Launchballer: New Noise seems to be well-established (11 years) magazine entirely focused on music, with its chief editor having a good amount of experience in writing as noted in the magazine's article. Skimming through articles currently on the site's front page, over a dozen authors are attributed within the past two weeks, showing that they have an editorial team and not just one or two people blogging. The author of the article linked, Tony Shrum, hasn't written for the magazine since 2020 but published hundreds of articles between then and 2016 (the source's date) and more before. Generally, there doesn't seem to be any doubt of reliability within the contents of the site.
My Central Jersey has a staff page of 10 people. On Archive.org, the magazine had 21 writers in January 2018 (the earliest available archive), which has Bob Makin (the author of the article sourced for DYK). According to Makin's page on the site, he's written for over 40 years, won 13 awards for his writing, and interviewed several major artists such as Jon Bon Jovi. With a specialty in music to this extent, I don't see any doubt in the site's (or at least his) reliability. Koopastar (talk) 18:50, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Fine by me. Let's roll.--Launchballer 12:18, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
