Royal Oak post office shootings
- ... that the perpetrator of the Royal Oak post office shootings vowed that, if he wasn't reinstated to his perfect job carrying mail, he would make a previous post office shooting "look like Disneyland"? Source: here ("McIlvane had vowed to the union official that he would make the 1986 massacre of postal employees in Edmond, Okla., 'look like Disneyland' if he was not reinstated. ... Tom McIlvane told friends that carrying mail was a perfect job for him...")

- Cbl62, I know you have quite the eye for good hooks – as always, definitely catchy. However, while this doesn't explicitly run afoul of DYK rules (BLP doesn't apply), I would argue that a hook like this makes too much light of a tragedy. I can't really picture this playing well on the main page. Was there another hook you might have had in mind? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 04:26, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Certainly wasn't my intent to make light of the tragedy but I understand how it might be viewed that way. How about something like this:
- alt1 ... that an investigation into the Royal Oak post office shootings led one Congressman to accuse the the Postal Service of having been "asleep at the switch"? Cbl62 (talk) 04:33, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Or perhaps better
- alt2 ... that an investigation into the Royal Oak post office shootings led one Congressman to blame "para-military management techniques" that "drove a man to kill"? Cbl62 (talk) 04:35, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- alt3 ... that an investigation into the Royal Oak post office shootings led one Congressman to blame "para-military management techniques" that turned the workplace into a "powder keg"? Cbl62 (talk) 04:43, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Theleekycauldron: Let me know if any of these work. Cbl62 (talk) 04:46, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- New enough and long enough. QPQ present. Earwig reveals no issues. I do not have a copy of the statement (nor is one linked), so ALT1-2-3 must be AGF'd. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 05:07, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
