Nagapattinam by-election, 1979, S.G. Murugaiyan, Nagapattinam (Lok Sabha constituency)

[edit]

Created by Soman (talk). Self-nominated at 00:03, 17 September 2017 (UTC).

  • New (S.G. Murugaiyan & by-election) or expanded 5x (Nagapattinam), in time (16th, 10th, 16th), long enough (by-election, the shortest, has about 1,670 characters of prose), sourced, inline hook citations check out. Soman, three QPQs are needed. --Usernameunique (talk) 20:51, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Soman, just a friendly reminder that three QPQs are needed. Thanks, --Usernameunique (talk) 20:58, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Done. --Soman (talk) 20:26, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I fail to see how the hook is hooky. Whenever a politician dies in office, he is replaced until a follow-up election is held. I realize you may be trying to incorporate all three articles in one hook. But even if information is in only one article, for example S.G. Murugaiyan, you could add on the other articles to the hook. Yoninah (talk) 21:38, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
  • @Soman: thank you, but the new material ("first Dalit revenue block chairman in Tamil Nadu") is a little inaccessible to a global audience. The "killed in broad daylight" fact is very hooky, though. What do you think about turning around the hook this way:
  • Soman, Yoninah, I was wondering whether it would be worth adding the fact that Murugaiyan's party won the by-election and retained his seat in Parliament, so it isn't just the (not so interesting) fact that a by-election was held to replace a dead person, which is the normal course of events, even though it is indeed interesting how he died. I thought this might work:
  • Good, I'm ok with ALT3. --Soman (talk) 22:20, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Yoninah, the reasons I didn't use "his" was because, well, once he died it wasn't really his seat any more, and I thought it read better without two uses of "his" in close succession. But if you think it is sufficiently accurate and reads well with "his" instead of "the", feel free to change it. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:31, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
* No, I think it's fine the way you wrote it. ALT3 hook refs verified and cited inline. Rest of review per Usernameunique. ALT3 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 17:41, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
