Mont Tremblant Conference
- ... that American delegates to the Mont Tremblant Conference argued that the British Empire should be liquidated after World War II?Source: https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/148814052.pdf, e.g. "Tyler Dennett (1883-1949), former historical adviser of the Department of State, emphasized in his memorandum to the conference that the American people would like to see a liquidation of the prewar colonial system and the abandonment of all kinds of imperial preferences". Also https://www.jstor.org/stable/3022402 (unfortunately paywalled), "A people's war meant to [the Americans] what had been said by Vice-President Wallace and by Assistant Secretary of State Sumner Welles − the end of imperialism".

- Fantastic article. New enough, long enough, very well cited with inlines and hook directly. QPQ done. My only concern is the use of the term "liquidated" as it does not appear in the text, only in the ref. Perhaps "should decolonize" thater than "should be liquidated", as this is the terminology within the article itself. Maury Markowitz (talk) 14:08, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! You make a really good point, that I didn't mention it in that language in the article. I've just added it to the "Topics" section, with the language "This argument was put in stark terms; for example, the historian and American government advisor on East Asia policy Tyler Dennett wrote in a statement to the conference that the American people supported the liquidation of the prewar colonial order" (and using the same citation). If you still favour different language though, I have to admit I'm having a surprising amount of trouble phrasing an alternative hook, but "should decolonize" sounds like a good replacement. - Astrophobe (talk) 22:44, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
