Lord & Taylor Building
- ... that in 1938, a local association alleged that the Lord & Taylor Building's blizzard-themed window displays violated a ban on "cheap trinket shops" along Fifth Avenue? Source: NY Times 2007
- ALT1:... that the Lord & Taylor Building's design incorporated window displays that could be lowered into the basement and swapped out? Source: NY Times 2007
- ALT2:... that the Lord & Taylor Building was called the first "frankly commercial" structure on New York City's Fifth Avenue north of 34th Street? Source: NYCLPC p. 1
5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk). Self-nominated at 22:25, 11 October 2019 (UTC).
- Epicgenius: QPQ checks out, 5x expansion counts, hooks are all verifiable and somewhat interesting, though I'd say ALT0 is a bit on the uninteresting side. I'd also say that ALT2 should specify who described it as frankly commercial but it doesn't have to. An interesting hook could also be "... that the Lord & Taylor Building was the first department store with elevators installed?". Other then those minor things, it looks good to go. - @Eddie891: I think that a hook about elevators may be a good hook, but the sources are not clear on whether it was this exact building. This is implied, but not explicitly stated. Other than that, I agree that ALT1 and ALT2 sound better than ALT0 as currently phrased. (ALT0 was about how Fifth Avenue display windows were supposed to only be used to advertise items.) epicgenius (talk) 00:04, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Eddie891: Are you still reviewing this article? epicgenius (talk) 16:22, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
- Epicgenius, Yeah, so all the ALTs are fine. If my proposed one can't be verified, the others are good to go. Preference to ALT1 or ALT2 Eddie891 Talk Work 01:56, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Eddie891, thanks. Could you give the green checkmark to signify that this is approved? epicgenius (talk) 02:10, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
