Kolya Vasin
[edit]- ... that "Beatles-ologist" Kolya Vasin proposed that Leningrad be renamed to "Lennongrad" in honour of John Lennon? "if Vasin had succeeded in convincing city officials to rename the city from Leningrad, its Soviet-era title, to Lennongrad. He also tried for a Lennon Street with no success." LA Times
- ALT1:... that "Beatles-ologist" Kolya Vasin proposed a 210-foot tall temple be constructed in Saint Petersburg in honour of John Lennon? "On the shores of the Gulf of Finland, a giant temple would rise, 70 yards high," LA Times
- ALT2:... that "Beatles-ologist" Kolya Vasin is said to have been the only Soviet citizen to have corresponded with John Lennon? "После этого его называли единственным в стране человеком, который переписывался с Ленноном. "/"After that, he was called the only person in the country who corresponded with Lennon." Fontanka

- Article was moved to mainspace today and is easily long enough, hooks are properly sourced and no copyvios. A colourful character alright. I like ALT1 the most. The lead says he corresponded with John Lennon in 1970, while the body says 1969 - which is right? Also, I think it would be helpful to describe Vasin in the hook (eg: Beatles collector) as it's not obvious why he would want to erect a 210 foot statue of Lennon. - Thanks for the review Ritchie333. I have corrected the date in the article (it was 1970) and added "Beatles-ologist" to the hooks, though am happy for "Beatles collector" or whatever to be used as well - Dumelow (talk) 10:26, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- In that case, ALT1 is good to go. Oh, and the image has a proper and compatible free licence. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:28, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
