  • ... that the Italian sandwich (pictured) was invented after dockworkers in Portland, Maine requested a baker to include meat, cheese and vegetables on his bread rolls?

  • This article was created from a redirect on May 27, it is over 1500 characters, the article is neutral, supported by appropriate citations, and there are no issues with copyvio. The hook is under 200 characters, interesting, and supported by inline citations. QPQ is satisfied, and the image is licensed via CC. This isn't relevant to the DYK criteria, but I wonder if, in the taxonomy sandwiches, the italian sandwich is really just a local variety of a submarine sandwich found in Portland, Maine. In any event, this was a very interesting article, and it inspired to go make myself a sandwich. Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 01:33, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
