alt0: ... that Amazing Stories called "I, Rocket" by Ray Bradbury "the first story ever written in which the viewpoint character and first-person narrator is a fully conscious, intelligent and aware spaceship"?
"I, Rocket" ... is also the first story ever written in which the viewpoint character and first-person narrator is a fully conscious, intelligent and aware spaceship.
alt1: ... that Ray Bradbury's short story "I, Rocket" won an award 76 years after it was first published?
note that alt0 is as long as it is because i wanted to use an attributed quote (without eliding any qualifications) to avoid the issues we generally encounter with hooks stating that the featured subject was the first to do something.also, personally, i think alt0 is more interesting than alt1, but am offering alt1 in case alt0 is considered too specialist. alt1 is admittedly probably not that interesting to people aware of the retro hugo awards.
