Hilda Hanbury
- ... that actress Hilda Hanbury was regarded as a "stage beauty" and appeared on cigarette cards? Source: Portrait of Miss Hilda Hanbury, The Sketch, 22 September 1897, p 359 + https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portrait/mw263542/Hilda-Louise-Hanbury?LinkID=mp153056&role=sit&rNo=0
- ALT1: ... that actress Hilda Hanbury was regarded as a "stage beauty" and appeared on cigarette cards (pictured)? Source: same as ALT0

General: Article is new enough and long enough |

Policy compliance:
- Adequate sourcing: - Some of the sourcing does not appear to be from reliable sources: see stagebeauty.net, ancestry.com, a cigarette card? There seem to be a fair amount of either OR or SYNTH.
- Neutral:
- Free of copyright violations, plagiarism, and close paraphrasing:
Hook eligibility:
- Cited: - I don't understand the citation? Is this citing the cigarette card?
- Interesting:

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: A few issues with sourcing need to be sorted out before this goes further. I don't find the hook especially interesting but this is a secondary issue. Vladimir.copic (talk) 03:01, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- Draft comment (I'll add more in the next few days): I updated the source on the hook. It should have been the URL where the image comes from, not the file URL. So no, not citing the image itself.
- ALT2: ... that actress Hilda Hanbury and her sister learned to ride bicycles in 1897, which was unusual for women of the time?
- Source: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/1214391/hilda-hanbury-1897/
- Thoughts? paul2520 💬 03:40, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- It's marginally more interesting but was it really unusual for women of the time? The source doesn't say so and even mentions other women bicycle riders? Vladimir.copic (talk) 04:17, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- ALT3: ... that actress Hilda Hanbury is the grandmother of actors James and Edward Fox and the great-grandmother of actress Emilia Fox?

- ALT3 looks good. Just need some of my concerns about sourcing to be fixed. Vladimir.copic (talk) 23:09, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have removed the link to Ancestry.com. The ‘cigarette card’ referenced is actually linked to an image in the National Portrait Gallery Collection - the UK’s national collection of notable British people Dreamspy (talk)<
- Sorry for being a pedant but I still see a WP:PRIMARY issue with the use of a census to source the following: Fox was of independent means and the couple settled down to a comfortable life in Mayfair in a 16 room house with nine servants. Vladimir.copic (talk) 01:54, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- I can remove the source but how else can I provide a reference for the information? Dreamspy (talk) 05:07, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- Any interpretation of the information from the census needs to be removed. If you look at WP:PRIMARY, it explains that the use of a primary source is ok for simple facts but interpreting them is not. I assume that Fox was of independent means and the couple settled down to a comfortable life in... is not information given in the census. Vladimir.copic (talk) 22:54, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- OK. I have removed the ancestry.com reference and moved another to cover the “independent means” bit. Dreamspy (talk) 23:05, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- Happy to accept this sourcing in good faith as I can’t watch the TV show source. Approving only ALT3. Vladimir.copic (talk) 12:19, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
