Hazen A. Brattain
[edit]- ... that former Oregon state legislator Hazen A. Brattain died a month after completing a seven-month world tour?
There are 3 sources that together backup this hook. The Oregon State Archives legislative guide for the 1909 legislative session identifies H. A. Brattain as a member of the state legislature. A Eugene Register obituary dated 22 Sep 1930 (p. 2), confirms he died on 22 Sep 1930 and says: "...He (Brattain) returned only a month ago from a tour of the world."(subscription required) A summary of Brattain’s international itinerary provided in a Eugene Register article dated 5 March 1930 (p. 7); says Brattain’s tour began in early Feb 1930 and would finish in August.(subscription required)
