Hook is interesting enough, raises question as to why the French ship was in Hong Kong. Verifiable, conforms to policy, neutral. Hook is from a sentence in the article and is supported by citation to a reliable source for it found at hathitrust web site. Picture is from Wikimedia Commons, is shown as in public domain. - @Onegreatjoke and Donner60: I'm not suuper comfortable with the sourcing here; it appears to be a primary source, and we're assuming that there's no source out there that ever found the five missing.
