ALT1:... that the costard apple, a popular commercial crop in the 13th-century is now thought to be extinct? "One of the oldest varieties grown in this country was the Costard ... appears to have been largely grown for sale in the thirteenth century." from: Sanders, Thomas William (1926). Fruit and Its Cultivation: The Cultivation of All Kinds of Hardy Fruits ... Collingridge. p. 17.and "the Costard apple which now appears to be extinct" from: Amateur Gardening. 1967. p. 28.
Overall: New article to mainspace. Source supports the hook. Checked for copyvio, no issues. QPQ completed. I did not expect to find a hook and an article about a variety of apple so interesting! (I prefer the first hook to the ALT but either looks fine.) BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:51, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
