... that Cecilia Uddén (pictured) was criticized for posing for a photo with two salafists who in her interview had stated that women who had sex outside marriage should be killed by stoning? - ALT2:
... that journalist Cecilia Uddén (pictured) between 1993 and 1998, was a foreign correspondent to the Middle East and was based in Cairo and Jerusalem?
Created by BabbaQ (talk), Werldwayd (talk), Rosario Berganza (talk), and GoingBatty (talk). Nominated by BabbaQ (talk) at 14:52, 28 December 2013 (UTC).
- The cited source (translated) text verifies the hullabaloo over the posed photo but doesn't discuss what the guests said in the interview. The article met newness requirement when it was nominated. The article meets length and neutrality requirements. PQP was done. The image used is free. The hook is 2 characters too long. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:32, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Shorter hook now labeled ALT1, and needs to be reviewed for sourcing. Not sure whether a close paraphrasing check has been done. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:29, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- The hook now meets length requirements, but the sourcing issue hasn't been resolved. The text doesn't address what the Muslims said in the interview. I listened to the audio and there's a short clip in English where one of the interviewees says that she's not opposed to adulteresses being stoned to death per Sharia, which isn't what the hook claims. Chris Troutman (talk) 07:56, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Striking original hook and ALT1 due to issues above (and that the article no longer supports them). Suggesting a displacement of the dates in ALT2 to make ALT2a for grammatical reasons; no other changes made:
- ALT2a:
... that journalist Cecilia Uddén (pictured) was a foreign correspondent to the Middle East between 1993 and 1998, and was based in Cairo and Jerusalem?—BlueMoonset (talk) 17:38, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- ALT2a:
- While both hooks 2 and 2a meet length requirements, neither is supported by the cited source. I'm not following this DYK nom anymore. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:36, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, it doesn't. In fact, the FN3 source in the Career section (which is the same as FN5) support that she works at Sveriges Radio as a Middle East correspondent, and the various entries include ones from Cairo in the past few years (from 2010 on), and that she made a couple of reports from Jerusalem in that period. FN4 just reiterates one of those reports on FN3. The hook says she was in the Middle East between 1993 and 1998, which is not on any of those web pages (1993 and 1998 don't appear at all), so naturally there is no support for her being based in Cairo and Jerusalem during that period. From what I can tell, the sourcing in the Early life and Career sections needs work, as the sources frequently do not support the text they appear after. I have struck both ALT2 and ALT2a due to lack of source support; no reviewer will be needed until the article's sourcing is reworked. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:36, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
