  • The hook isn't in the article, nor the reference either from Adler (as cited in the DYK nom above) or from Brown, where the quote originated from. Article appears to be only 1221 characters too. @Yoninah: thank you taking an interest here. I guess you’re right. I’d be ok with your ALT1. I don’t think ALT2 works, because it would need to explain the early scientific approach they took. One other option is below, referencing Albrecht Alt’s oft-quoted description:
