Armwell Long
- ... that Armwell Long served six terms in the Delaware General Assembly, helped save the town of Lewes from the British, and was said to have once outranked and been a close friend of George Washington? - @BeanieFan11: This is only a comment and not a review, but the hook is 199 characters long, or just under the 200 character limit. Would it be possible to propose a shorter hook? It seems to be combining multiple hook facts when it may be better to just focus on one or maybe two facts. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:18, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sure I could, but this was the hook I felt to be most interesting when thinking about nominating for DYK. I've had hooks at 199 approved before (here). Is it not allowed to have multiple facts in a hook? BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:43, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Not necessarily, but hooks can be declined if they aren't punchy, and the guidelines do encourage more concise hooks. Also, the guidelines state that reviewers have the discretion to decline hooks that are slightly below the character limit (i.e. they can accept them, but they can also decline them). - @BeanieFan11: I also have to note that you should provide a QPQ soon, as tomorrow will have been one week from the nomination, and a QPQ needs to be given within seven days of a nomination and reminder. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:00, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- The nominator hasn't provided a QPQ within seven days despite a ping. The nomination can resume once a QPQ has been provided. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:19, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
- I was away yesterday, so I did not see the ping. I'll get a QPQ done later today. BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:49, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I've reviewed Template:Did you know nominations/St. Bernward, Hanover as a QPQ. BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:31, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, the nomination can proceed. My comments regarding more concise hooks still stand, however. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:03, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

- @BeanieFan11: Honestly, I agree with Narutolovehinata5 in her comment that the hook should cut down a bit. You could probably remove a section or maybe even two from that hook and it would still be okay. Onegreatjoke (talk) 18:28, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- What do you think the hook should be? BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:32, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Onegreatjoke: Just to clarify: I'm a guy. As for what the hook should be, I could suggest removing the Lewes part since it doesn't seem to be that intriguing compared to the other two aspects. If it were me, I could simplify the hooks as either of the following options:

- ALT1 ... that Armwell Long, who served six terms in the Delaware General Assembly, was said to have once outranked and been a close friend of George Washington?
- ALT2 ... that Delaware politician Armwell Long was said to have once outranked and been a close friend of George Washington?

- Those hooks are each good so I can approve those. Also, I'm sorry for misgendering you. I think I meant to write their but idk. Onegreatjoke (talk) 19:54, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
