Alastair MacLennan (medicine)
[edit]- ... that Professor Alastair MacLennan and his wife Alice, both doctors specializing in reproduction, were caught by surprise and he had to deliver their own baby at home? Source: "Oxford where their two daughters, Suzanna and Lorna, were born (the latter an unplanned home birth attended by Alastair)" (Obituary - Dr Alice MacLennan)
- ALT1:... that Professor Alastair MacLennan moved from Scotland to Australia in 1977 for a three year appointment teaching medicine at University, and has stayed for more than 40 years? Source: "In 1977, Professor Lloyd Cox, Australia’s first reproductive endocrinologist and foundation professor of obstetrics and gynaecology in Adelaide, asked me to come to Adelaide for 3 years. I’m still here 35 years later" (that was in 2012) (A well rounded career - Professor Alastair MacLennan reflects on his career in obstetrics and gynaecology)

-
- page title . Usual convention is for occupation to be in brackets after name ie (obstetrician) rather than (medicine)
- In lead "professor of obstetrics and gynaecology" rather than "medicine" which implies internal medicine
- Ian Donald more accurately described as"...who jointly developed obstetric ultrasound."
- MD thesis (University of Glasgow)
- categories should not include 'Alumni of Oxford University'
Overall a well written, detailed , informative article

- Done I'm not sure that it is as clear to a lay reader, but I agree that it is better as "a noun indicating what the person is noted for being in his or her own right" per WP:NCPDAB.

- I understand the point, but unfortunately that isn't what the source says: "In Glasgow, my first mentor was Ian Donald, the inventor of obstetric ultrasound." Not sure how to proceed - I don't want to misrepresent the facts, but I want to remain faithful to the sources. Would it be acceptable to change it to "... who pioneered obstetric ultrasound", avoiding mention of whether he was the only one or not?
