At that time, needlework teachers so important to the preservation of folk art did not count as teachers. For them, as well as for kindergarten teachers, Adele Zay successfully petitioned the church authority for receipt of a retirement pension.

The textbook "The Theory and Practice of Infant Education for Use in Educational Institutions for Kindergarten Teachers" appeared in 1896 first and in a 1916 second edition with slightly changed content and title: "Theory and Practice of Kindergarten on Use at Educational Institutions for Kindergarten Teachers". The publication was also recognized in Germany and served until the beginning of the Nazi dictatorship for many teachers at kindergarten teacher seminars as a textbook.
