[edit]

5x expanded by Teemu08 (talk). Self nominated at 19:23, 6 November 2014 (UTC).

  • 5x Expansion verified. Length verified. Hook verified. Largely free of close paraphrasing. A few sentences/strings are a bit close with the pdf source ref [1]: "he soon was found to have an inoperable cancer of the bladder" "he joined the american ornithologists union", "bequest for its upkeep". These should be rephrased. I also saw in the pdf source that "His collecting a Brown Pelican on Lake Mendota in 1943 was a shock from which the Madison Audubon Society did not recover for years." I wonder if an ALT1 hook based on that wouldn't be a more interesting one. Btw, currently the article does not have the Pelikan information but it could be added to it and an ALT1 could be created based on it. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 20:23, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Added ALT1 for you. --George Ho (talk) 05:54, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT1 is acceptable but needs to be cited directly in the article. Also, my concerns above about paraphrasing should be addressed before this DYK passes. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 04:19, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
@Dr.K: I have corrected the close paraphrasing. The intended alternative hook is now also cited in the text. Teemu08 (talk) 15:38, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
. Good to go. By the way ping doesn't work in template space. :) Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:53, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
