Cartography

[edit]

Although I can't read Arabic, I have the sense (given open source) that its Palestine Grid is 629/1251, its EPSG 28191-1074 , and that it's immediately SE of the triplet reservoirs. The British Mandate Survey of Palestine has a nameless point marked as 129 feet (39 m) & "J49"; Open Street Map has a tiny brown rectangle representing a building. And sometimes it's Tel Rasha... Or is it? Can anyone pin this down further? If you proceeded west from the terminus of Ibn Sina you'd hit it! I've downloaded some maps, but I'd rather not rely on guess-work, much less WP:OR. Thanks. kencf0618 (talk) 17:36, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tell Rafah?

[edit]

Sources for "Tell Zoroub" (incl. variant spellings etc.) seem to be very thin on three ground. The infobox says an alternate name is Tell Rafah, which turns up a lot more, but what's the source for this claim? If we're going to link this place with an archaeological site it needs to be well-sourced, as the destruction of cultural heritage (as the cited tweet claims is happening) is a war crime. – Joe (talk) 13:43, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going by the Survey of Palestine and the Arabic here, but shall dig deeper, esp. archeologically. kencf0618 (talk) 14:12, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
