Question
Sorry for the random question being thrown in here, but I'd like to clear things up.
How long has the mamodo battle been going on? Seems likes it's been a few years, but I'm sure that can't possibly be true. 68.197.237.248 (talk) 01:23, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Characters
I added the Japanese cast. --Jutari
Can someone add the Japanese seiyuu for Konjiki no Gashbell? I know that the seiyuu for Gash changed for the last few episodes.
I know the show is originally called Gash Bell. But why do people have such a beef with Zatch Bell? I made some edits so the show can be acknowledged as BOTH. As it should be. Not everyone will recognize it as Gash Bell, but people who look up the page will learn where it came from. It's called Zatch Bell in the U.S. Deal with it. I think it would be stupid to pretend its U.S. title doesn't even exist. - from: atomofish
Under each of the character pictures there is a "see article on ____" space added. If you want to include descriptions on characters (without spoiling it for people) just click on the red link and write away! Turk_Ranma 8/12/05 2:16PM
I think all Zatch Bell (and other English) references should be changed to Gash Bell, the mix of original (demon, kiyomaro) and English Dub (Zatch) irks me.
I didn't want to mangle someone's edit though, so if somebody else wants to, I think you should go ahead.
Standardization would be nice, but let's be realistic...
In any case, I'd like to see the real name of all characters.. So far the motif seems to be using two syllables of a name, so i'm thinking "Suzie" is really Suzuki or something? Either way I'd like someone to look it up and put it in the article, since she's the best character. ^_^
Btw, the Japanese title there ends with 'Gash' and has no 'bell'.
I agree that the page should be switched to Gash Bell. --68.38.113.242 05:48, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
No. This series will be known in the English language as "Zatch Bell". However, I will use whatever names the USA manga release uses. WhisperToMe 05:08, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I vote it should be kept as "Zatch Bell", seeing as anime watchers will know "Zatch" means "Gash", while those who simply watch cartoons will get confused between the two. Yeah, censoring demon with mamodo for "sensitive" American audience is annoying... But it's good to show the difference between the Japanese and English shows, just so those who don't understand anime yet know what they're missing. :)AeroKnight 11:51 PM PST 4/26/2005
Also, if anyone wants to make an article in French, the title "Zatch Bell!" should be used, as Kana is releasing the manga with that title in France. WhisperToMe 23:58, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I believe that there could be seperate pages or sections on just English and just Japanese. That way we can still find out what the difference is between both the original names/spells and the English one without being confused. Seriously, I cant really tell if some of the stuff in parenthases or quotes is in English or Japanese.
We could put the Japanese in parenthases and make a new page on the Japanese version with a title like "Konjiki No Gash" or a link from the original Zatch Bell page to a new page with the Japanese names, spells, etc.
I agree. In fact, I think I'll get started, but I need someone to help me out makeing the Japenese page. If none of you will help, then there are lots of J-Americans in my class; on second thought, we aren't really friends, we get along fine, but we're not friends. So, anyone gunna help me out on this one? --Wack'd About Wiki 10:10, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- P.S.: Is there a page on how to type in a different language?
- P.S.S.: If you want to help me, tell me on my talk page.
I've already gotten started (see the main characters section), but it's a pretty long artical, and one that I'm gunna need help with... --Wack'd About Wiki 11:45, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
This article needs to be called Zatch Bell. You can have the japanese name in the article, but since this is the english version of Wikipedia, it should be called Zatch Bell. Dposse 02:01, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
It should be noted WITHIN the article WHY Zatch Bell was named that way outside of Japan, due to the negative connotations the word "gash" has. --Geopgeop 04:07, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Hlektam(Doruke)
That's the Dog Mamodo's spell, Right? I don't think there was any evidence of him not wanting to fight.
I thought about that as well. Perhaps that dog didn't want to fight and really wanted to befriend Zatch, but who knows. I guess the purpose of the spell should be "gives mamodo a powerful battle form" instead of "force a kind mamodo to fight". --Aaron 19:47, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
Well, He wasn't befriending Zatch, he was looking for his book so he could burn it. --User:Dbzxmatt 7, April 2006
Could be. He started talking after the spell was used, and I really doubt that a spell would give a power like that to a mamodo. I think I like the alternate personality theory better, though, because the stupid people at Toei decided that only Kolulu didn't want to fight. Let's be realistic: 100 mamodos, and only 1 hates fighting in a world full of children? Haku raja 22:26, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you watch the episode closely, you'll see Gofure wimpering just as Renji casts Doruk. Does that show that Gofure doesn't want to fight? I think so.
Spoilers?
Should the spoilers of the show be written for this article? Explaining how the human met the mamodo may not be so spoiler-ish, but explaining what ultimately happens to the mamodo is. ...or at least, that's what I think. What do other people think about "what is" and "what isn't" a spoiler? --Aaron 19:43, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
Personally, I think that adding future spells and mamodos to the spell lists is spoilerish and I dont think its right to put them there. This is because some people might come here just to see how some things are spelled or what certain spells do. However, I dont know how far the show is in other parts of the world. In the U.S, Eastern Time Zone, it just finished the second Eido and Hyde episode. Bt w/e. If you would like to keep it there, then by all means keep it.--DragonMaster 00:00, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
I agree, and I also question where the info came from. -Walking Armless
This is an encyclopedia. Each article should contain as much information on its subject as possible, regardless of whether that information falls under the heading of "spoiler" or not. Essentially every other television and book article on Wikipedia can be used as a precedent to reinforce my arguement. If all of the excellent information that was on this article was removed due to the fact that it was composed of "spoilers", it should be replaced immediately.
That's true, but seriously, why would anyone need encyclopedic reference for something like a children's TV show- and believe me, it was really toned down after the first few episodes. If anyone was a serious scholar, they'd buy a serious encyclopeidia instead of a possibly unreliable free one. I'm not saying Wikipedia is actually unreliable, of course. Most people look this stuff up for entertainment. Then again, you have a point. Ths place is not for entertainment. That's why we have a little of both elements, and spoiler warnings. If people follwed them, this section wouldn't even exist. No one does, though:).Haku raja 22:32, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Character Information
I noticed someone was going back through and adding new information to include the episode summaries within the character information. I'm wondering if this is appropriate; if we've removed season 1 and 2 episode guide, we really don't need a rehash of what happens in each episode in the character descriptions either. So I hope that future character edits won't include such things as "And Kiyomaro and Gash won by doing this and this and that". Or maybe that's just me . . . I'm of the opinion that the Character info hash should be shorter (they're rather long at the moment).
Updated I went and rolled it back, since some of the information was incorrect anyways. However, if this is objectionable, we can roll it again. *Shrug* Majority rules and all that.
I'm fine with that, I had to roll back a few spoilers before that say how the episode ends. But I'm still wondering where to draw the line about Shin and Esteros since saying it outright would spoil the first third of the show. I tried to make it fuzzy, but I think someone overwrote it and spilled the beans. --AeroKnight 06:56, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
Kyanchome and Folgore Edit
Um. I'm not going to roll it back, yet, without discussion, but do opinions like this:
"In fact, he is very similar to Gaston from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. He is considered a male chauvinist pig by some ZB fans, as he only cares about women erotically touching him than the women themselves."
Really need to be included in the character summary? It's also a little inflamatory. If there is a real controversy about it, maybe we can create a separate topic instead of jamming it into the character descriptions.
It does seem biased, good eye. Feel free to change it how you'd like, otherwise I can later. But biased things like "that was a very disturbing dance Fulgore did" is alright in here. ;) --AeroKnight 07:49, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
I agree, it should be kept to the specific Zatch Bell topic. But if someone must put down they should create a new topic or page.
Spelling stuff.
When trying to discover the English spelling of any name, it's a good idea to make a check against official resources. The best resource I find is the rulebook (read: Cardlist) of the Zatch Bell card game (has the most complete collection of english names at the time of this post). A PDF copy can be acquired at GAMUS's website (Direct Link) [[1]]
Please try to make checks against official resources when compiling stuff like this. Thanks in advance.
Another thing. For the LOVE OF GOD, Jiker is spelled just the way it is! 'Ji' makes a strong 'G' sound, and the 'ker' explains itself. Chronomaster 02:34, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Err... seems Hyde's spell is spelled 'Jikir'... Chronomaster 22:56, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
New Input No, its spelt Geeker. Why dont you all go to www.tvtome.com, and search for Zatch Bell. From there, go to the forum and you'll see a page called Spell List. There, it lists the proper way to spell everything and what each spell does. And trust me, a LOT of the stuff here is spelt wrong. --DragonMaster 23:54, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)
Um. Tv-tome isn't exactly the most reliable source, nor is the fan page it links to. If you go by the Official Card Game, as opposed to fan translations and closed captioning, it's JIKIR[2]. Unless you're going by the Japanese spells, which are a bit different. For instance, Gash's first spell is zakeru, second spell is rashieldo, and third is jikerudo. There's a bit more leeway, given it's a translation from katakana.
The offical ZB website in english has the spellings for all the spells... --Wack'd About Wiki 14:59, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Front Page Edit Suggestion
The front page is beginning to look a tad unwieldy. Especially under the "Demon/Mamodo and their Bookkeeper" heading and subheadings. Considering as the anime goes on, the count will only grow, perhaps a revision is needed before that subject line exceeds "War and Peace" in length.
I suggest a series of subpages on the demon/bookkeeper pairings. The paragraph describing the pairing can be placed on the subpage (and this will also help with the spoilers that keep popping up. At the very least, can someone quit spoiling the surprise behind Gofure and Reijii?! Yes, Gofure MAY be a cute puppy in the beginning, but the audience isn't supposed to know he's a demon until the end of the episode. That's sorta the point of the episode).
In the place of a long summary, there could be a very short blurb:
Gash Bell and Kiyomaro Takamine (see Gash Bell and Kiyomaro Takamine) <---- link to subpage (which will be the original paragraphs written about the duo).
English names: Zatch and Kiyo Takamine
Spellbook color: Blue
Spell power: Electricity/Fire
First appearance in anime: Episode 11
First appearance in manga: Chapter 2, Volume 2
Japanese Voice actors: Gash -- Ikue Ohatani, Kiyomaro -- Takahiro Sakurai
English Voice actors: Zatch -- Debi Derryberry, Kiyo -- Jason Spisak
Anyway, just a suggestion. I might try that, once there's more time. Also, what's the consensus about the Folgore entry? (anon)
No - we will spoil such surprises. That's why the spoiler notice is here ! WhisperToMe 04:43, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I don't think we should spoil these surprises for those who haven't watched the episode yet. I was wondering this myself, so I searched across Wikipedia to find if there's a policy one way or the other. Right now I have trouble finding that page again, so I understand my information could be suspect. But what I found when I found that page before it said "enough information should be given without spoiling the story". If I find a page on Wikipedia that states the policy of spoilers, I'll post so there's no confusion. --AeroKnight 03:19, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
As I said, we spoil things. That's why there is a giant-ass spoiler notice! WhisperToMe 21:52, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- I believe we need a list of mamodos/mamonos, although it ought to be in a table format of some kind if possible. One thing however, spells should be listed and described whenever possible. It might be a little much to have pictures, but I think we'll manage anyhow. Might as well begin now.

A better intro
How about telling more about what the show is about? Saying who owns it isn't that descriptive of an intro, and I actually got to this page wanting to know why these little people are fighting and such.

Yeah, I am planning to clean up the article at most when the manga is released. WhisperToMe 21:49, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Ok well i think there should be a list of all the episodes and a description of what happens in them...i live in U.S. eastern time and the next episode is episode 45. I wont give away what is supposed to happen in the next episode, but i cant wait another week to see it!

I'm sure it can, seeing as how someone could just get up and do it right now.. XD I would get up and make a page for him but... I actually think I saw info for him awhile ago, but I think it was deleted for lack of content or something.. O___o I'm not sure if I would've put anything different, really, so I guess it wouldn't be appropriate for me to put something up there. See what happens, I guess. Arguments against creating any more mamodo/bookkeeper articles.
During this AfD, it was suggested that new mamodo/bookkeeper articles should be created. Although I was thinking of making a Kido/Dr. Riddles page, after seeing ep.73 I don't think they are that important. I think we have enough articles as it stands. Thoughts? Danny Lilithborne 03:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
I think a page for Kido should be made. Why not?
- The characters that currently have pages are either prominent allies of Zatch/Kiyo, or major enemies of a story arc (Zofis/Koko for the Millennium Mamodo arc, Zeno/Dufort for Faudo arc). Dr. Riddles is only important during one story arc. Danny Lilithborne 22:38, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Zatch Bell France
Good evening I just want to know why Danny Lilithborne doesn't stop clearing my link in Zatch Bell! wiki page. We all want to get a complete page dealing with Zatch Bell/Konjiki no Gash Bell, aren't we? The series is licensed in France and my website is supported by Kana. Besides, you speak about Kana although it doesn't refer to English language. But it appears to be natural to talk about. Moreover, French is a worldwide language, spoken anywhere in the World. Let people all around the world have the choice to choose their language. Generally speaking, English is the first language used on the internet; we first find English pages before finding pages in our mother tongue. This page (Zatch Bell!) must allow most of people to be satisfied as an universal wiki page.

Regarding the Zatch Bell! characters/Millennium Mamodo articles
- User:Kid Sonic wants to create biography lines for all the characters in these pages, which I'm fairly certain would cause a lot of unnecessary clutter for a lot of fancruft about one-shot characters. A better idea would probably be to make more pages for the fairly major teams that don't yet have pages, such as Kido/Dr. Riddles and Ted/Jeed, and merge the rest of the information into "Minor Zatch Bell! characters"... however, given that there are a lot of characters in the series and many of them play important roles, I think it would make more clutter as well. I suggested a straw poll to see what the consensus would be, but I'm unsure of exactly what the procedure is. So I guess I'll begin by seeing if there's any desire to change the way the Zatch Bell pages are set up. Danny Lilithborne 03:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just short summaries. It's no big deal. It's not clutter, other series like Naruto and Dragonball have alot of info. Why can't the Zatch Bell! pages be like that too. And on top of that, you guys are short-selling by not giving episode summaries, a plot summary page, a complete list of Zatch Bell video games and merchandise, and a timeline. I feel that long-running anime series such as this one should have as much info as possible. It's not with what happening on this site. There's a good majority of info out there and you guys are leaving it out there in the dust. Sure people don't like spoilers, but there's always:
{{spoilers}}
{{endspoiler}}
So anyway, I suggested a straw poll to see who has a better point. If you elect my ideas, i'll make sure there will be episode summaries, a plot summary page, and a complete list of Zatch Bell video games and merchandise. Let's work to make these ideas happen for the Wikipedia Zatch Bell! pages of '07!
User:Kid Sonic
- I am absolutely not okay with a Zatch Bell! characters page with biographies for every character. Faudo gets a bio because 1. he is the major opponent of a story arc, and 2. he's complicated because of his inner workings. A biography for every single mamodo that appeared in the series is both ugly and unnecessary, and fancruft to boot. The compromise solution of creating pages for relatively major mamodo/bookkeeper teams has the problem of deciding who's important enough for a page, especially with the number of characters relevant to Zatch/Kiyo who only appeared in two episodes before getting their book burnt. I am for leaving the articles the way it are. Danny Lilithborne 03:36, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
You suck! Because of you and the sissification of Zatch Bell! with them not wanting to fight(not even for sport), i'm no loger a fan of Zatch Bell!. I hpoe you're satified with yourself! You won't even allow episode summaries, a plot summary page, and a complete list of Zatch Bell video games and merchandise! User:Kid Sonic
- I was thinking of something similar, actually, so don't get me wrong. Kido and Riddles should have an article, if only for the fact that Dr. Riddles pops up several times in the Faudo arc. Major allies Like Penny and Uri and Byonko and Alvin should also have articles. In the Faudo arc, we get a whole slough of allies that are impotant enough to warrant articles. Riya and Aleshie, Cherish and Nicole, Ted and Jeed, Earth and Elly, Bari and Gustav, Momon and Elle, Rodeaux and Chita, Karudio and Sauza, and Purio and Lupa have all gotten fights this arc, and have been fleshed out as much as Wonrei has. Fleshed-out villains (Riou/Banikis, Kiees/Berun, Victoream/Ace, Belgium/Daria) may also be seen as possible candidates. Just my 2 cents though. Belgium EO 00:39, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I was thinking about making articles for Kido/Riddles and Penny/Uri myself, but since I haven't actually seen the whole anime/read the whole manga, I haven't considered myself a reliable source to do it. Danny Lilithborne 01:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- A character page for every mamodo team? That's insane! What about teams like Sugino and Haru? There's really not enough information on them to make a whole page. GoldenGashBell

Propose moving Millennium Mamodo to Ancient Mamodo
- Apparently, the term "millennium mamodo" is a fanterm; the term "Ancient mamodo" is used somewhat frequently in the dub to refer to these characters. It should probably go there. (The term "mamodo from a thousand years ago" is used more often, but... come on.) JuJube 06:39, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

I accept your proposal after seeing the lack of detail on that page and feel with it's current state it would be better for a merge to the main page since it lacks the necessary detail length for it to deserve its own page. -Adv193 06:28, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
