The two parts of Zalafa

[edit]

Mandate-era maps, and modern maps too, show two built-up areas called Zalafa el Gharbiya and Zalafa esh Sharqiya (Zalafa west and east) about 0.5km apart. But this is not mentioned in the article. Zerotalk 11:34, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Although know there are two parts, I don't remeber a sentence about it and in general, the village is a single bloc.--Bolter21 (talk to me) 12:14, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable population stat

[edit]

Do we have a more official source for the population? The last Israeli census (2014) puts Ma'ale Iron at ~13,900. If Zalafa's population is 8,000, Musmus is 6,000, Musheirifa is 3,000, that's already 17,000, and that's still leaving Bayada and Salim uncounted. Other than the census, I think these individual village population figures are probably exaggerated estimates. --Al Ameer (talk) 16:53, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Al Ameer son: Checked it. From the data of Govmaps of Israel (which can't really be spesifically sourced):
Ma'ale Iron is divided into four statistical blocs per 2008 census (in thousands):
1) Salim - 1.6 residents
2) Zalafa - 4 residents
3) Musheirifa+Baiada - 3.1 residents
4) Musmus - 3.9 residents
There's also data about (%) of residents aged 0-17, 18-64 and 65+.
I"ll search for the census data on the web to see if I could cite it.--Bolter21 (talk to me) 17:51, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Bolter21: Thanks for finding the more accurate stats. --Al Ameer (talk) 20:13, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
