I don't understand why the article isn't showing everthing that it should. The "edit" page shows that there is much more that should be in the article. Does anyone know what is wrong? Cmcnicoll 01:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- I realized I ended the reference with <ref/> instead of </ref> which caused the problem. It is fixed now. Cmcnicoll 04:27, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Lineage
[edit]Can anyone find a better source for the Boylston family tree than http://cowhampshire.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2007/10/18/3209947.html? Fullobeans (talk) 10:23, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
opposition to inoculation
[edit]I thinks it's a mistake to imply that the project to inoculate Boston against smallpox was simply "opposed by some religious people". Boylston was apparently the "only...among the town's physicians who would try it," and the major opposition came from another physician, the Scottish immigrant William Douglas. Virtually all of the leading clergymen in Boston--Increase and Cotton Mather, Benjamin Colman, etc--were for the inoculation. (see M.G. Hall (1988) pp 357-260. So suspicion did not come from the side of the Puritan clerical leadership, but rather than opposing physicians whipping up fears among the general populace. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.101.69 (talk) 14:06, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- This is good information. I'm working on this article and will look for sources that substantiate this to include this information in the article.--Esprit15d • talk • contribs 14:23, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
Grenade incident
[edit]The grenade incident actually happened to Cotton Mather, not Boylston. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.115.179.198 (talk) 02:39, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- That is my understanding as well. I'm going to look into some sources to correct inaccuracies in this page.--Esprit15d • talk • contribs 14:22, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
