sectional sub-dividers
[edit]I think the page is much better with the recently-removed sectional sub-dividers; that's why I added them. Who wants to read the page? People who want to know one specific thing about Yulon and people who want to know more about this Taiwanese company. The sub-dividers allow the page to better-cater to the former, and their ilk. Fleetham (talk) 21:22, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Disagree. Over-dividing (with sections often consisting of a single sentence) breaks up the article into illegible chunks. Prose is preferred to bullet points. As usual I would like to refer you to WP:STYLE, but I'll also suggest checking out today's Random Good Article (Hurricane Ida (2009)). 52,708 bytes of info divided into fourteen sections. (Yulon Motor as you would prefer it consists of 12,109 bytes, divided into no less than 23 (!) sections) Then I suggest you read a few GA-rated articles to get a feel for the desirable style of Wikipedia articles. These are not my private inventions, it is me trying to contribute to good articles which conform to the overall style of Wikipedia. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 21:50, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well, okay then. Should we change the Lexile level as well? I target all my articles to something like 500L but perhaps an older audience prefers less sectional sub-dividing and a 1300L+ score? Fleetham (talk) 22:01, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- What does a reading of the GA rated articles suggest? There is a "Simple English" wikipedia project as well. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 23:59, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know; I don't read good articles. But my guess is wikipedia usually has a Lexile count of less than 1300L. I didn't know about "simple English wikipedia"; it would be difficult to make sure I was writing simply. Fleetham (talk) 01:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- I am requesting that you do read a few good articles so as to get a handle on what you are expected to be doing. Lexile count is of no relevance here, particularly not your private target of 500. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 06:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Assembler of Nissans
[edit]Yulon mainly assembles Nissans - it is mentioned (and referenced) in the intro. No need for a second citation. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 01:11, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
You're right, but I think using the Taipei Times lead ref would be misleading because while, yes, Yulon now mainly manufacturers Nissans under license, the history section assertion is more broad. Using the Taipei ref could be a "red herring" type-fallacy. Fleetham (talk) 01:28, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yulon has been building Nissans since 1960, with a few additional brands added only very recently. This is evident and amply cited throughout this article. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 01:39, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, but the citation in the lead can only support the claim that they have been doing so recently. So, it's unsuitable for the history section. Fleetham (talk) 01:47, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- It is not cited there. The fact that Yue Loong has, for four full decades, built nearly exclusively Nissan products is not in doubt. You yourself do not doubt it, nor does anyone else. I could easily find a reference (I guess I'll have to), but it is not necessary and only makes the article even less legible. ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 06:29, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- No reason to find a reference, yes. But please don't use one that doesn't support the material. No ref is pref. to that. Fleetham (talk) 15:56, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't use that reference, I used no reference because it is unnecessary. But you deleted the sentence as "uncited". ⊂| Mr.choppers |⊃ (talk) 19:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- I know I deleted a sentence that said many licensed, Yulon-made models bore a Yulon badge. But then you got a reference, which I assume supports that assertion. Fleetham (talk) 19:50, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
