TWL HighBeam check-in
[edit]Hello Wikipedia Library Users,
You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:
- Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
- Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.
Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.
Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Changhe logo.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Changhe logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:14, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
Matatu meaning
[edit]It's all very confusing. Three rows of seats, three ten-cent coins, or cooperative? I think we may never know for sure, but I think it seems that the fare theory makes a lot of sense. In one of the references used (a BBC dead link) there is a matatu-inspired band called Ma3 - clearly they have an idea of the meaning. I looked at the history of the edits (I had originally thought that "Will-Wamaru" was a leftover reference from the Share Taxi article) and I think that the earlier uncited version ("mapeni matatu") was more coherent than the last one. I don't know what's the right answer but I would love to find out. Cheers, Mr.choppers | ✎ 16:04, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Legality of Bitcoin by country
[edit]Hi there Fleetham, I did you the favor of reverting my edits entirely, since yours were even more wrong than the original, and since you guys don't seem to be able to leave the correct information that I added in place. I guess I won't bother editing the correct information in any more, since you folks who don't live here and don't know what's been going on are so adamantly opposed to the outdated (and in fact incorrect even when it was originally written, because the bloggers who wrote about the Robocoin ATM being blocked didn't bother to look into why it happened) and wildly wrong information being removed.
111.81.121.231 (talk) 13:54, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because you used sources that only report news about bitcoin ("cryptocoinsnews.com") and the website of a law firm. Neither are likely to pass WP:RELIABLE SOURCES. I was easily able to find sources that do conform to this rule and re-posted the info. you had initially included. I understand that it's frustrating to be unable to write whatever you want to on Wikipedia, but I do encourage you to read WP:RELIABLE SOURCES and look for high quality citations. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your edits on Electrolux
[edit]Hello. Blanket reverts to older versions of an article, like this edit on Electrolux, without checking what you're restoring are totally unacceptable. You're responsible for everything you restore, and in that edit you restored hoax material (including multiple links to hoax website "electrolux.com.mk") that I had previously removed. Don't do it again! Thomas.W talk 18:26, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- It was 19 months of changes this time whereas last time it was only nine months. Please don't do it again. Ttwaring (talk) 23:07, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Your edit on Micropayment
[edit]Hi there, could you please explain why you removed ChangeTip and SatoshiPay from that page? There are plenty of sources citing them as current micropayment providers. Why don't Flattr and M-Coin get removed, too? What's the guideline here? Meinhard (talk) 20:23, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Mostly due to the sources... Flattr has a TechCrunch source, and while perhaps M-Coin should be removed, SatoshiPay had a "bitcoin news only internet website" as source and ChangeTip lacked a secondary source altogether I believe. Fleetham (talk) 21:52, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- I readded SatoshiPay with better sources. Hope this suffices? The ChangeTip team recently left the company, so the project's future is unclear. --Meinhard (talk) 14:21, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Giant Interactive
[edit]Hello, Fleetham,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Giant Interactive should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Giant Interactive .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,

Disambiguation link notification for January 4
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Viktor Bout, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Taylor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The file File:Hisense logo.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious encyclopedic use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Financial markets content project
[edit]Hello,
My name is Tijana and I am a team leader of Wikinvesting.com project. Along with five of my colleagues and friends who are investment and trading enthusiasts, I have started the Wikinvesting which is based on MediaWiki platform.
Wikinvesting is a non-profit, game-changing movement which aims to round up all those individuals who believe that unbiased financial market information and knowledge should be extensively available to everyone. And this is also how I got to you :) Namely, I was searching for information I needed on financial markets and I have noticed that there isn’t a lot of "useful" information available on Wikipedia (to my surprise). In addition to that, the information available through sites such as Investopedia or Investing is tightly controlled by the business owners and hence easily manipulated. Simply, traders like me could not trust such sources in planning the investment and trading strategy...
So, what we want to create is a base where active or aspiring traders, content writers, investors, and generally financial enthusiasts will share their knowledge and experience, discuss investment opportunities, analyze news etc., all for the purpose of wikinvesting becoming the biggest financial knowledge “open source” base. I am not sure if you are familiar with the recent case of GameStop where gaming enthusiasts gather around the GameStop via reddit forum and prevented the hedge funds from sinking it down. They were basically our inspiration to starting this project.
I would love to share more information about this project with you and also discuss future potential opportunities, hence if you are interested, please let me know so we can continue this on our slack channel.
Cheers,
