edit

[edit]

{{editsemiprotected}} In the release history section, change the Mainstream radio date from June 21 to June 15. as the Source given now says June 15 not June 22.

 Done Avicennasis @ 07:40, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
wow I am so happy to hear you sing a song and watch you perform wonderfully great 🥰🥰 41.114.155.67 (talk) 17:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Composition

[edit]

I think that the section about composition is needless and is sloppily worded, even if it was necessary. Hip-hop/rap/R&B songs, if they sample at all, are generally made in the same way. Obviously there will be additional instrumentation alongside the original sample, and so it is probably unnecessary to include quotes from other sources and say something that isn't already implied by the genre that Your Love is classified in. Echoghost (talk) 15:12, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your Love Single cover(s)

[edit]

Both covers were released and cited. The first one (Minaj smirking to her right) was released promotionally and officially as the cover and was used by sites such as Rap-Up, AOL and many other blogs/sites that reviewed the song. The cover was changed for the iTunes release, which happens to so far be the only release the song has gotten. Both covers should be included in the article since both are official covers. Theuhohreo (talk) 15:40, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is discussion, because the cover was not even a promotional cover. Because Rap-Up and AOL use the cover mean nothing, they are not Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown. The definition of a promotional single is "is a recording issued on Vinyl, 8-track, Cassette, CD, MP3, VHS, DVD, or Blu-ray." So that means the official cover is considered "the promotional cover" It is not an official cover, if it were than a remix or single or something would have been released with that cover. If another editor sees this anyway the image would be deleted because it fails NFCC #8. Candyo32 (talk) 15:44, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remixes

[edit]

The song has had 3 remixes released (so far by July 19) which include remixes by Flo Rida, Sean Paul and an Urban Remix. I believe the song should include a new section for remixes. Theuhohreo (talk) 01:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, none of these remixes have been deemed official. Second, for a remixes section to be in use, there must be extensive coverage of remix not just one or two sentences about a few unofficial remixes (see Turnin Me On). For most official remixes they don't even warrant a whole section (see the Background of I Invented Sex). Candyo32 01:59, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The song has so far had 3 remixes and the music video isn't even out yet. Although none are official they have been reviewed and even commented on by Minaj herself. I already added the section if it still isn't notable enough than just delete it. Theuhohreo (talk) 02:08, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it to the Background because unofficial remixes still aren't notable to warrant a full section. Also its no need in making a bulleted list of remixes when its in prose. Also unlike Flo Rida and Sean Paul, "Urban Noize" is definitely not notable so per Wikipedia's notablity standars it shouldn't be used, especially since it is unofficial at that. Btw, Twitter is not a reliable source, even if it is a verified account. Candyo32 02:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand moving the remixes to the background, but I don't understand why the Urban Noize Mix isn't added along with the others... Because they are all "unofficial" remixes so wouldn't they all get "treated" the same? Theuhohreo (talk) 13:59, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As I've stated, although unofficial, Flo Rida and Sean Paul are well-known rappers. "Urban Noize" isn't a well known remix treatment, such as Dave Audes or example. Candyo32 14:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

ughh i can't understand why the reference #18 is messing up like that on the bottom! it's annoying me!!!! lol I can't see anything wrong with it -___- Theuhohreo (talk) 16:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done the ref tags had different names. One was "idolator" and the other was "idolatorreview." So I made them both the same. Candyo32 16:30, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i couldn't for the life of me fix that! lol Theuhohreo (talk) 16:39, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Music video photo

[edit]

i think their should be a better photo for the music video pictures. pictures that better describe the video because those screen caps aren't really the best... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.145.226 (talk) 18:39, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Those are fine. It is depicting the battle scene, it is better to have a cap from something important in the video rather than just any shot from the video. Candyo32 18:48, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done Changed the photo to illustrate the artistic use of fabrics as scenery. Might leave, depends on the reception between both photos. Theuhohreo (talk) 17:09, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i was thinking about someone putting pics up of minaj bleeding that red cloth in the end and the blue cloth under the bridge where they meet??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.145.226 (talk) 18:55, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't sound like a bad idea but I think the pictures are fine for now. Maybe changed later if I can get a better screen-shot. Theuhohreo (talk) 19:39, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Candyo32 im going to fail this article unfortunately. Please see below for reasons why.

  • References errors.
Non consistent dates. Eg: 2010-06-06 and June 7, 2010. Choose one or the other.
Wrong work and publishers
Some refs do not contain accessdates
Incorrect italicizing.
Overlinking of refs
  • Image is 1000x1000. Images must not exceed 300x300
  • Article needs a copy edit review. There are past tense issues, eg: The song was mixed more and lyrically changed and is set to be the second single off Minaj's untitled debut album. ...... The song has already been released as a single.
  • The main issue i have is that the album has not been released yet, more information will become available when time progresses. Such as Chart performance, Composition, Personal Section, and Critical Reception.

First single

[edit]

I just watched a three-hour Minaj video on Ustream and she says that "Massive Attack" isn't on the album, so how can we call it the lead single?

your must have heard wrong because other sites (http://www.theboombox.com/2010/08/04/nicki-minaj-turns-pink-on-debut-album/) state otherwise and their are many others. Nicki even stated in an interview that when she heard the song she told Garrett that that is the direction she wanted the album to go in. If anything it should be left the way it is until the album release in a couple of months... Theuhohreo (talk) 18:38, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nicole Sia of MTV Buzzworthy stated that the video resembles Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in its fight scene and commented on Minaj's appearance stating "the camera cuts to Ms. Young Money soloing in front of billowing one-million-thread-count satin sheets, just to remind us how damn FINE she is." → This is a long sentence.

Credits and personnel
