Introduction

I toned down the introductory paragraph which stated that Firpo dominated the Pacific Northwest boxing scene during the 1920s and 1930s. Only two boxers could really legitimately claim to dominate the Northwest during that period; Leo Lomski and Freddie Steele. I am the author of the article which Wiki has taken down. I originally wrote it as a means of providing the true record and as a means of cleaning up a mess with respect to what others had intended to offer as the record of Young Firpo. Originally, as written by others, the sketch was a hodge podge of mistakes and demeaning to what Young Firpo accomplished in the ring and within his own life. There were countless mistakes concerning his ring career, opponents he fought, and the contributors obviously were confusing Guido Bardelli with other fighters who chose to fight under the ring name of Young Firpo. There is not a single statement tendered within the cleaned up biographical sketch which I substituted in place of the piecemeal offering which used to exist on this site which cannot be substantiated or verified as factual in its offering. The biographical sketch was drawn after countless hours of dedicated and historical research, review of and listening to taped interviews of fight fans, fighters, managers, trainers, promoters, and other sources common to historical boxing research. If those in charge of Wiki have questions concerning any statement offered which he/she would like verification of, please advise me of the same and I will provide it.

When you knew who wrote the article and how to contact me, it appears to me to be a slight and offensive to remove the work that graced these pages as an historical creation to be enjoyed by others who are desireous of reading about a fighter considered great enough to be inducted into the Idaho Sports Hall of Fame, the Inland Empire Hall of Fame, an honorary member of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, and in November of 2008, the World Boxing Hall of Fame, without having the common courtesy of questioning me about any of the concerns you have which lead to a complete wipeout of a factually presented biographical sketch.

Some, who conduct control of this site, believe that the career of Young Firpo somehow diminishes the careers of other Pacific Coast and/or Pacific Northwest fighters and it somehow challenges those fighters and their own claim to greatness. I've never gone to another fighter's biographical sketch, be it that of a Leo Lomski, Fred Lenhart, Wesley Ketchell, Freddie Steele, or Tiger Jack Fox and attempted in any manner, shape, or form, to diminish the greatness of any of these all-time great fighters. To the contrary, I have done all I could to perpetuate their memory and contributions to the history of boxing on this site and elsewhere and will continue to do so regardless of how Wiki chooses to respond. I've now responded and I ask Wiki to interview me --- up front and personal --- so that it can restore what it has wrongfully deleted from this site, a biographical sketch of a man who happened to be a great fighter. If anything, whomever it was that posted the article on boxing biographies, they've copied what I wrote verbatim. Furthermore, as I explained as one of the reasons that I wrote this biographical sketch of Guido Bardelli, a/k/a Young Firpo, because of so many Firpos fighting during the 20's and 30's, the boxing biolgraphies reveals a picture of Luis Firpo from Argentina and then mistakenly uses the biographical sketch I've drafted. May I please have an answer or an explanaton to the clarification I've provided within the paragraph immediately above this paragraph? The individuals responsible for generating and creating the site located at http://boxingbiographies.com/bio/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=158 directly copied what I had written. My contribution was an original and, as I earlier explained, "(t)he biographical sketch was drawn after countless hours of dedicated and historical research, review of and listening to taped interviews of fight fans, fighters, managers, trainers, promoters, and other sources common to historical boxing research. If those in charge of Wiki have questions concerning any statement offered which he/she would like verification of, please advise me of the same and I will provide it."

It is my understanding that Wiki is looking historical biographical sketches --- as has been provided irrespective of the relationship between the subject and its author --- rather than a hodgepodge of facts and misrepresentations --- as was the situation until I opted to clean it up to pay honor to the subject and history. For your information, I used to be a teacher of both World History and American History in addition to English and American Literature. Please, have someone provide me with precisely what objections Wiki has and I'll see that they are clarified. I might add that there is not a single sentence in the biographical sketch of Young Firpo which cannot be supported on a factual basis. Your patience and respect is to be admired. To answer your question, the instructional text below an edit box says:

• "Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted."

• That's not a problem anymore

• "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable."

• Seems like that may be a problem since it was not cited in third party reliable sources, though I for one, wouldn't remove your content. I'm just one editor though.
