Changing the name of YFF Golden Sheaf Award for the Ruth Shaw (Best of Saskatchewan)
ThatMontrealIP I thought before changing the name back to Yorkton Film Festival Golden Sheaf Award - Ruth Shaw (Best of Saskatchewan) we should have a discussion first in to why this name was chosen originally. The YFF has at least 30 difference Golden Sheaf Awards. By naming this article as Golden Sheaf Award leaves no where to go with the names for the remaining awards. I agree that this name in particular is perhaps to long; however, it is the name of this particular award. The names Golden Sheaf Award - Best of Festival or Golden Sheaf Award - Best Experimental or Golden Sheaf Award - Ruth Shaw (Best of Saskatchewan), etc. might be an option. I am not an expert on film festivals or there names so perhaps Bearcat and/or ZarhanFastfire might have a better recommendation. What do you all think? I didn't notice the page move at the time, but it's definitely improper. Golden Sheaf is indeed the name of all the awards that Yorkton presents, not just the "Best of Saskatchewan" award — moving this article to the generic title would be like moving Canadian Screen Award for Best Editing in a Documentary to Canadian Screen Awards, thereby blowing out all other categories or the possibility of an overview article about the whole thing. It's not that this category is the entire Golden Sheaf Award; it's that most of the other categories don't have articles yet, which is not the same thing. Accordingly, I'm moving the page back to its prior title immediately as soon as I'm done typing this comment — we can certainly still discuss whether a shorter name can be figured out, but we can't just pretend this one category is the entire Golden Sheaf program. FWIW I moved it as I do not recall ever seeing such a long and such a vague article title. I don't object to it being moved back, but it is not an improvement in my eyes.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 00:19, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, we can discuss moving this to a shorter, less complicated name. But whatever name it's given, it still has to be one that keeps it disambiguated from the other Golden Sheaf Awards, and doesn't just pretend this one category is the entire Golden Sheaf Awards.
