Yingjie Guo (academic) → Yingjie Guo – previously contested, but CSD declined Vycl1994 (talk) 15:09, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Object to speedy move Why? What makes this person the primary topic? Why not the other one? No rationale given, and this is a primary topic dispute, so should be a full up move request anyways. Why not just keep the dab page, since the topic you're suggesting for primary was tagged for CSD? -- 65.94.42.168 (talk) 15:41, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Hhkohh (talk) 15:50, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Comment whatever happens this person currently at Yingjie Guo (academic) cannot stay there, since the other Yingjie Guo is also an academic. Yingjie Guo (Chinese studies professor) or Yingjie Guo (born 1957) would work. If the dab page is kept, then the current title should redirect to the dab page. If the other person is the primary topic, then this pagename should redirect to the other person. -- 65.94.42.168 (talk) 15:49, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- 'NOTE the old edit history at Yingjie Guo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) indicates it was created as a duplicate article for the other Yingjie Guo (not the one on this page "Yingjie Guo (academic)"). -- 65.94.42.168 (talk) 15:54, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose as proposed the creation of the target page seems to indicate that the other Yingjie Guo is the more likely topic, so either keep the disambiguation page, or redirect it to the other Yingjie Guo.
This page should alternately instead be moved to Yingjie Guo (Chinese studies professor). The current pagename should point to the disambiguation page (if kept) or the other Yingjie Guo -- 65.94.42.168 (talk) 15:56, 7 October 2018 (UTC) - Comment I was going to move this to Yingjie Guo until I saw that that page had a parallel history with Yingjie Jay Guo. Does anyone have any evidence that the communications engineer is ever known as "Yingjie Guo"? He seems to call himself "Jay Guo" – here, for example. As to whether he's an academic, I'm not so sure – he's an adjunct professor, not quite the same thing. One possibility would be to move the present dab page to Yingjie Guo (disambiguation), and then treat the Chinese studies professor as primary claimant for that title. But as long as it gets sorted out, it doesn't really matter how (to me, anyway). Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:38, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Comment the article says he was born in China, so he was definitely not "Jay" there. "Jay" also is part of a research institute, so definitely an academic. He's published research, and is a university prof. You haven't shown why the Chinese studies prof would be primary though. As it is, it would seem that the engineering researcher should be primary if there is one. Both articles are stubs so it's hard to judge, but the parallel history stub underneath the dab page claimed that Jay was an IEEE Fellow, making him seemingly more prominent, since it's an international position of honor for contributions to the field. -- 65.94.42.168 (talk) 12:39, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose – Why? 142.160.89.97 (talk) 04:58, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose not primary use. Kevin McE (talk) 18:00, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Two different people with the same name!
[edit]This page is highly problematic. It tries to make a WikiPage for two different people with the same name, both academics.
This is one: https://www.sydney.edu.au/arts/about/our-people/academic-staff/yingjie-guo.html
And this is the other: https://profiles.uts.edu.au/jay.guo
Both are Chinese academics working in Sydney, but they work in entirely different fields, and in two different universities (USYD vs. UTS).
The main elements of this WikiPage relate to the former (USYD), so we should amend everything that does not concern him, and think whether the latter deserves a page on his own or not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.43.111.47 (talk) 23:46, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
