Xbox 720
Xbox 720 redirects to this page so there should be some reference to it. I added such a reference in an appropriate spot, but that edit was undone with no explanation given. I explained my change in the revision history, and I didn't add anything on what Xbox 720 is since it's all rumor at this point with no verifiable source. Please explain the revert, and if you're not going to mention Xbox 720 in the article, please delete the redirect from Xbox 720. Brant Gurganus (talk) 11:32, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

- Support. Disambiguating the older console instead of the empire it formed is logical, in line with broad-concept dab situations. As it stands, until this article was fabricated out of other articles (haven't looked into what exactly was copy-pasted), all of the people who landed on "Xbox" were probably looking for the 360 or the series, not the original console. Makes it even easier that PlayStation already follows this format. (Sidenote: would have been cleaner to convert the previous merge req into a multi, since it's what he wanted anyway, instead of starting a new one.) czar · · 16:35, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Durango
I don't get why ever article about it is immediately removed. Microsoft surely is talking about it and confirmed it's existence, it's surely worth more than a mention that it exists and is planned to be released sometime in 2013. RocketLauncher2 (talk) 21:04, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- It is covered in the Xbox article and the Xbox 360 article, it can't have its own article yet as no one knows what it will be, and most information on it is rumour and speculation. Which Wikipedia leaves to video game magazines. See WP:V - X201 (talk) 07:40, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect citation on Xbox One processor speed
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The Xbox and Xbox One page currently tables the Xbox one processor as being "1.75 GHz AMD x86-64 eight-core CPU codenamed "Jaguar"[33]" However the citation does not provide any evidence of this and looking further there is no where I could find to cite that the speed is actually 1.75 GHz as this page currently claims. It would be safer to replace "1.75 GHz AMD x86-64 eight-core CPU codenamed "Jaguar"[33]" with TBA until a better source is available Empiredroid (talk) 12:33, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Not done: I Googled "xbox one 1.75" and found numerous sources for this information. Celestra (talk) 00:07, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Done: I replaced the citation with a reliable one – Ars Technica – that reports the 1.75 GHz speed. It was already being used in the Xbox One article. --GoneIn60 (talk) 11:32, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Microsoft XBox One camera always on by default?
According to http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/27/gchq-nsa-webcam-images-internet-yahoo last year Microsoft faced a privacy backlash about XBox One camera always being on by default. I can't find this in this article? XOttawahitech (talk) 15:03, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- That is an article about the Yahoo backlash that mentioned the Microsoft one in passing. You can't use that as a source since it has no context to where the Microsoft backlash came from. Mrfrobinson (talk) 15:18, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- What are you thinking is missing? That the camera is always on? Or that there was a backlash about that? Certainly both items should be easily source-able I would think. Gaijin42 (talk) 19:27, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Music and Video
Xbox isn't just about gaming anymore. Any Microsoft related product has now "Xbox Music and Xbox Video" I think the meaning of Xbox is now meant to focus on Music and Video too. I think this should get included on the Xbox (series) page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.253.28 (talk) 04:19, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

History of the Xbox By: Dylan Pate
Xbox The official launch of the Xbox 360 was on May 12, 2005 on MTV and information was then released later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in regards to the actual machine launch. Once the machine was available for purchase, it was sold out everywhere but in Japan. As of January 2010, there have been 39 million of these console machines sold worldwide. There are two different versions of the 360 - the Arcade and the Elite which each have a different demographic. The launch of the Xbox 360 took place in the desert with thousands of gamers there to celebrate this new machine. Many consoles were setup with high definition displays and surround sound speakers to allow everyone to try out the new machines. Live entertainment was also provided and there was a special gift handed out for all that attended this event. Many of the attendees did not make use of the hotels, preferring to sleep in the bean bags that were provided for them to use if they did choose to sleep. Games were being played at all hours, and it felt like one large LAN party. Due to the fact that Microsoft only started production of the Xbox 360 a few months before the launch, they were not able to provide enough units initially. As a result, there were many disappointed customers at the launch. But by the end of 2005, 1.5 million units had been shipped out to customers. Microsoft had a year’s jump on the competition, and promised to have 10 million units out by the time the other companies were out on the market. The Xbox 360 was the market leader until 2007 until the Wii was released. With the launch of Halo 3 in October of 2007, Microsoft was able to take back the lead in the home gaming system, selling approximately 30,000 more units than the Wii. The console currently has approximately 1,000 titles for gamers with a variety of titles. The most popular games have several features that appeal to the people that play them such as eye catching graphics, storylines that immerse the player into them, and enough of a challenge to make a gamer want to play them repeatedly. There are a wide variety of games so that everyone can find something that will appeal to them. The original console was dreamed up of in 2000, and five years later, the Xbox 360 came out to replace it. It was to be a brand new generation of gaming machines. Some people had their doubts about this system, but once it was released and they had a chance to try it out, they were won over. In November 2002, a year after the original release of the Xbox console, Microsoft began an online gaming service called Xbox Live. This service allows gamers to play with others from around the world, as well as allowing consumers to download games to their Xbox console straight from the Internet. This service proved popular, as Microsoft announced in July 2005 that 2 million gamers used the Xbox Live service. The successor to the original Xbox, called Xbox 360, was released on November 22, 2005. This release date was nearly a full year before the other game consoles in its generation were released. The Xbox 360 features wireless controllers and compatibility with older games made for the original Xbox. As of February 2010, there are more than 23 million gamers using the Xbox Live gaming service. The year 2010 is predicted to be the best year in Xbox gaming history, due to the release of several high profile games, including "Halo: Reach," which is the prequel to "Halo," the best-selling Xbox game franchise. Although the 360 had the spotlight for a long time, the new and improved version, the Xbox Kinect came out to where you were able to use your hands instead of worrying about losing your controller or not having any batteries. There was only one flaw to the Xbox 360 Kinect and it was that it was only compatible with games that were made for it. Later on, the creators of the Xbox made some old and some new game compatible with the Kinect Censor bar. On November 22, 2013 the third family member of the Xbox family was released onto markets everywhere, this console is known as the Xbox One. Xbox One is a video game console developed and marketed by Microsoft. Announced on May 21, 2013, it is the successor to the Xbox 360 and is the third console in the Xbox family. It directly competes with Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Wii U as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles. Xbox One was released across North America, several European markets, Australia, and New Zealand on November 22, 2013, and is scheduled for release in 26 other markets, including Japan, the remaining European markets, and the Middle East, sometime in September 2014. It will also be the first international game console in 13 years to be released in China, specifically in the Shanghai Free-Trade Zone. Microsoft and various publications have classified the device as an "all-in-one entertainment system", making it a competitor to other digital media players such as the Apple TV and the Google TV platforms. Moving away from the Xbox 360's PowerPC-based architecture and back into the x86 architecture used in the first Xbox, the console features an AMD processor built around the x86-64 instruction set. Xbox One places an increased emphasis on entertainment integration, offering the ability to overlay live television programming from an existing set-top box, split-screen multitasking of applications, and improved second screen support. The console includes a newly upgraded Kinect motion sensing peripheral, previously an optional attachment for the Xbox 360. Microsoft is emphasizing the Kinect's integration with Xbox One through features such as a built-in Skype client for videoconferencing, user recognition and tracking, and the ability to use voice commands and gestures to navigate the console's user interface. New gaming functionality includes an expanded Xbox Live service, improved Kinect functionality, cloud computing, the ability to automatically record and share video highlights from gameplay, and support for live streaming gameplay online. Upon its unveiling, Xbox One was criticized for its initial digital rights management policies (including a requirement for a periodic connection to the internet, and ambiguous restrictions on the resale and sharing of previously-purchased games), along with Kinect usage requirements and higher price than its competitors. In response to the criticism, Microsoft dropped these restrictions prior to releasing the console

Please update the section regarding Xbox One's backwards compatibility in line with the announcement made at E3 2015.
For reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#Games is incorrect, can you update to reflect the Xbox One's article (obviously in a brief fashion with a link if that is better!) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_One#Backward_compatibility

Units sold count for the Xbox One is listed at only 3 million units. That is way too low considering PS4 sales are at 25 million. Found this page saying that PS4 doubled the sales of the Xbox One, and the estimate the sales to be at 14 million units. I will list the page in references.[1] Richard5x5 (talk) 23:19, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Why Xbox and not Xbox line?
I'm genuinely curious why Xbox and PlayStation are the only two consoles which have product family pages which share titles with an actual product which is part of that line. Obviously this leads to a situation where the actual articles for the consoles are relegated to Xbox (console) and PlayStation (console) which seems pretty weird to me. Conversely the product family article for the Game Boy is called Game Boy line, I think rightly so since, when talking about the Game Boy, people are likely to think of the original device rather than every consequent iteration of said device which have different names.
In case people are wondering, yes I was the person who previously asked about the "product family" of the Wii U. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.175.155.10 (talk) 18:15, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Update the Xbox One's best selling game?
I have been thinking that Titanfall is no longer the best selling game on Xbox One, and we should probably update it. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is apparently the current top selling game on Xbox One, according to VGChartz. --Alcatraz7003 (talk) 08:11, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- VGChartz is not considered a reliable source for sales information. See WP:VG/RS. -- ferret (talk) 11:13, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
But then will the best selling game be updated as Titanfall is no longer the best selling game? --Alcatraz7003 (talk) 00:59, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- When a better reliable source surfaces that says another game is best selling. -- ferret (talk) 11:35, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
I believe Titanfall is still the bestselling game. VGChartz only says 2.97 million sold on the XBox One, but they seem to only include physical copies. http://www.gameondaily.com/titanfall-sold-more-than-7-million-units/ shows that Titanfall made more (or at least tied). We should switch back to Titanfall on the bestselling XBox One Game.ActivBowser9177 (talk) 16:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Grand Theft Auto V is currently the best selling game on the Xbox One, the section needs to be updated accordingly. heads up for
[1] Spotted MS trademark for "Xbox Series" (no X), aligning with reports we still have a lower-cost version coming out. Obviously do not change anything yet, but we might need to start thinking how to adjust if this turns out to be the 4th gen name. --Masem (t) 03:25, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

In the section "Fourth generation: Xbox Series X and Series S" please change the text "and lacks the" to "with less." This changes the claim from an invalid absolute (saying the Series S "lacks" performance) to a valid relative comparison. Thanks. 67.188.1.213 (talk) 19:33, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Console Comparison Table
The table that compares features of the consoles should probably be horizontally flipped so that newer systems are to the left and older systems to the right. More people are likely to want to compare the newer generations. Why make them be the ones who have to scroll to the right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:980:C004:5410:3594:9A39:6D22:41E2 (talk) 17:51, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- It is far more traditional to present historical comparisons from left to right. There may be some trying to see how the new console compares, but we're writing these articles for the long-term and not this short-term need. --Masem (t) 17:53, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

The Xbox Series of Consoles would be the only 4th console. 2601:C7:8281:1EF0:C088:2C8B:178B:A310 (talk) 18:10, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

The opening paragraph still refers to Xbox Network as Xbox Live. This needs to be updated to reflect the change in branding Mirai141 (talk) 09:07, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Outdated Information
I notice that the following information explaining the Xbox One controller under the section called "Controllers" is outdated:
"The button with the Xbox logo will no longer bring up the Xbox Guide as the Xbox Guide Button on the Xbox 360 controller did. The button will now open up the dashboard without interrupting the game currently being played by the user. Once pressed again, the Xbox will resume the game."
An update a few years ago changed it so that pressing the button with the Xbox logo will bring up the Xbox Guide instead of going to the dashboard. VoltWasTaken (talk) 23:16, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
