Russian player flags
[edit]Are russian players competing under the FIDE flag due to sanctions, like during the World Chess Championship 2021? If so that should get a mention at least in the footnotes. --jonas (talk) 05:43, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes it is due to sanctions but 2021 they played under the Chess Federation of Russia flag not the FIDE flag because it was prior to the invasion of Ukraine - LockaPicker (talk) 10:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Federation and name in results table
[edit]Hi, what is the point of merging the federation and name into one column? Now you lose the ability to sort by name and I can't see any benefit.. LockaPicker (talk) 10:03, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- In most other similar tables I've seen on Wikipedia (examples: FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2021, FIDE Grand Prix 2022, Candidates Tournament 2022), the federation and name are in one column, including those for the 2021 Rapid championship. The nationality and name are also in the same column in other sports (examples: 2022 Formula One World Championship, 2022 Masters Tournament); it looks neater that way. Also, is it necessary to be able to sort by name? The federation would seem more relevant to me. GeorgeMHall 02:55, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
