rename
[edit]since the team doesnt actually exist and none of the sources talk about the team maybe this article should be renamed? to just 'Women's football in Saudi Arabia' or something like that. because really its an article about womens football in saudi arabia, not about the team (because none exists) Orion Eclipse (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:37, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I would oppose that as there is a fair amount of coverage about the creation of and opposition to a national team. --LauraHale (talk) 00:50, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- I would agree with the original post. The team does not exist, has never existed, and no serious attempt has ever been made to create one. The opposition to the creation of a national team is irrelevant, as is anything about the political situation or gender equality situation in Saudi Arabia. The fact remains that this article is talking about something that is hypothetical. The original poster's idea makes much more sense than talking about something that demonstrably does not exist. The user responsible for creating the women's national team pages does not appear to have the necessary knowledge to do so, and I have pointed this out before. The fact that some of the pages are being given 'good article' reviews is because the people reviewing have similarly poor knowledge of the subject. This is not an opinion. Many of the articles bear evidence of what I say. In addition, the "In 1985, almost no country in the world had a women's national football team" which is trotted out in almost every article, is false. There had been 5 Asian Championships, 1 Southeast Asian Games and an Oceanian Championship (13 different teams) and 2 European Championships before this date (the first unofficial, the second official, with 16 teams). So there were around 30 countries with a women's national team at this time. 30 is not almost zero. Mcruic (talk) 01:49, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

I have undertaken a slight copy-edit of the article. Other than that, I have no concerns with the article and will pass it as a good article. A most interesting piece of work which I much appreciated reading. Arsenikk (talk) 20:47, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
New article
[edit]I have just created a new article Women's sport in Saudi Arabia. The content of this article that is not specifically about football should be moved to the new article. Roger (talk) 09:52, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- The content not specifically about the football team explains the background for the team. It is more: This article is a good place to source that topic, not that it should be removed. --LauraHale (talk) 12:26, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
- That makes sense, as long as we don't end up with too much duplication. Roger (talk) 12:54, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Request to merge
[edit]I think the exist of women football in Saudia Arabia is Utter rubbish, there were no teams playing the sport therefore no National team. I really don't understand this article .--Mojackjutaily (talk) 16:53, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- We've been down this road before with a deletion request. The topic, and the lack of existence of a team, is notable in and of itself. Your merge request says it is based on your lack of understanding of the article. It does not mention the previous deletion discussion, and does not address the issue of established notability of this as an independent topic given that. Given the issues addressed previously in the AfD and your lack of understanding on the subject being the primary reason for a merge, I am removing the request. --LauraHale (talk) 17:31, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you @LauraHale: for replaying, and allow me to Put the Template back. I thought the content of the article can explained it self, and i was discomfort to recount my reason because of my weak English. This article focuses on clubs and teams and mostly say if there are women playing football in Saudi Arabia, then they should have a national football team. but i would I argue that Saudi Arabia has no women's clubs, Officially at least. Saudi Arabian Football Federation did not support any team or match between women, and there are no Press articles talking about league or team. i mean how come someone believe that Saudi has teams while their press and their government deny this, Do we have to believe foreign reports of people who have not visited the country and claim that matches are being held?. I want to confirm something, are there still women teams playing in Saudi Arabia consistently at this time?, I do not think so.
- In Reference No. 22 for Example it say "The Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University team defeated their guests, the Al Yamamah College, from the capital". But when I checked the college site there was no mention of a women's team or even football fields. I really think when Saudi arabia start to set up official women's teams, then we should write this page, and since most of Women's football in Saudi Arabia content is similar to this it should be merged.--Mojackjutaily (talk) 02:07, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
