Clarification needed on years
[edit]The years that the prizes were awarded need clarification; were Chern and Erdos awarded their Wolf prizes in 1983 or 1984? (Or perhaps at in special New Year's Eve ceremony? LOL)
There may be some reason for why a split year is required here; but it is not at all obvious from the content of the page.
Also, a discussion of why the prize is not awarded every year, which contradicts the first sentence, is required. 118.93.238.116 (talk) 09:44, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- As the award is based in Israel, it's possible the years were indicated according to the Hebrew calendar which has several months' overlap with the Gregorian calendar. (This also occurs with book publication dates.) I'll check this out with the Hebrew source material, contact the Wolf Foundation if necessary, and make the necessary corrections when I do further work on the Wolf Prize pages in the English Wikipedia. -- Deborahjay (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
