Changes not needed
[edit]@John M Wolfson: I prefer the citations used. They are used throughout WP and it's really only an opinion that that SFN is better, as both conventions work fine. SFN cites can get tacky when multiple dates and web cite sources are used. In any case, the DYK review is not the time or place to be debating these things. Please confine your DYK review to DYK criteria and definite policy issues and any definite errors in the narrative, spelling etc. Thanks. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 22:47, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, you may revert to them if so desired. I got the impression you were new, which is why I've done general article sprucing in addition to the DYK criteria. I'll start the actual review shortly. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 22:50, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. I still have a QPQ to do. Looks like I better get on it. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 22:55, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Captions are also used in info boxes and often duplicate the title of the article. e.g. See Ulysses S. Grant, Thomas Jefferson, etc, etc. This is not a DYK issue so can we please leave it? I may be adding an info box, but haven't decided. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 23:17, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
Third day?
[edit]In Military Life, it states "On the third day at Shiloh..." But the battle only occurred over two days. There was fighting afterwards, but this was pursuit by minor Union forces after the retreating Confederates who had yielded the field of battle. Thomas R. Fasulo (talk) 01:21, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
William S Hillyer and connection to John Aaron Rawlings
[edit]The problem with this article is it mentions a General Rawlings at least 3 times in the text. However I can find no related article about a Union general with that surname. I think the person referred to is actually John Aaron Rawlins 1831 -1869.

Birth date does not match Find a Grave information
[edit]According to Find a Grave, his gravestone reads a birthdate of 2 April 1830, not 1831.

- Sources seem mixed on whether it was 1830 or 1831, so I've amended it to mention both, with sources. — Amakuru (talk) 14:57, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sources? His family buried him and put 1830 on his gravestone. That is THE source. 72.87.49.5 (talk) 13:21, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
