Hello, in response to the below comments, please see the below information as clarification:

Well over 125,000 mental health professionals have attended APT courses themselves, hence the direct influence, the courses being run by very experienced mental health professionals, usually clinical psychologists.

APT is a Limited Company, as it says on all our emails and on the website, and we are proud to be so. Professionals who attend APT’s post-qualification training are registered as having done so and have a certificate to demonstrate what they attended. Similarly the NHS Trust or other employer has a record of who has attended what. They also receive an evaluation document with every attendee’s evaluation of the training after every course attended. We also publish on the web the syllabus of each course, along with its average ratings for Presentation and Relevance (having factor analysed attendees’ responses these are the two key factors.) As far as we know, no-one has asked us to define a mental health professional, but it is probably safe to say it is someone who is professionally involved in mental health.

We are especially proud of our accreditation system, on account of its transparency which as far as we know, is unmatched. Having factor analysed attendees ratings on a large number of scales it is apparent that Presentation Quality and Relevance are the two key factors, so those are the ones we ask attendees to rate and we publish the average ratings for those scales for each course (along with its content) on www.apt.ac As far as we know, no other ‘accreditation system’ has this degree of rigour or transparency. We try to make our training as accessible as possible, and in fact the professions attending roughly mirror the proportions in the NHS (most of our attendees come from NHS Trusts) namely: mental health nurses, (clinical) psychologists and psychiatrists in that order.

We operate a policy of complete transparency so no-one is ever misled about anything. We have never sought a connection to the BPS or BABCP, just as they haven’t to us: the NHS has been APT’s biggest consumer of our training for over 40 years, and we consider that to be a very solid form of recognition.

Hi

I have updated the page to read more as a biography instead of an 'advert'. It is misleading to claim the business owner of APT has 'directly influenced over 100,000 mental health professionals'.

Firstly APT is a business. Secondly, APT publishes no records of those who attend thier courses and has refused to supply any information in regard to what exactly constitutes a 'mental health professional'.

Thirdly, APT (a business) claims it 'self certifies' its mental health qualifications. Unlike any other college or university in the world, it requires no former academic training in the advanced fields such as of CBT and DBT, which in most cases require a person to have a 'core' professional skill, prioer to training (such as mental health nursing, social working, ocupational therapy ect).

It is important that those reading this page are not misled into thinking that APT qualifications are recognised as academic or profesional acheivements. adding information to a link

Hello, I was reviewing William Davies's page and it has a link to his business The Association for Psychological Therapies. But when you click on the link it says the page does not exist. I wanted to add information about this but your guidelines say not to add things if you have a conflict of interest. (He is family) So how can I do this appropriately?
