"former testing ground for atomic weapons"
[edit]The following has been removed from the article because it is not relevant to the content of the article (i.e. off-topic) - "former testing ground for atomic weapons". This is because the "testing ground" are located in Maralinga Tjarutja which is at least 300 kilometres (190 mi) to the west of William Creek (and therefore, outside of its boundaries). For your information, the land allotments where nuclear weapons were tested are shown on the South Australian Resources Information Gateway (SARIG) which is a map-based database. To see this information, click the SARIG, select "All Map Layers" in the menu in the Left Hand bottom corner of the page, search for "Maralinga nuclear test sites" and check the checkbox next to the layer names. At least three sites will appear on the map in the west of SA. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 06:14, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
Climate data
[edit]I do not think that the climate data from Cooper Pedy should be included here. It is already stated that Cooper Pedy is nearby. The infobox is deceiving unless one looks at the footnote (which most will not). SCHolar44, please argue here for its inclusion in the present form. XabqEfdg (talk) 01:36, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Taking your point about the footnote, XabqEfdg, I have added a note in the infobox that should be hard to ignore. If I may infer from your mis-spelling of Coober Pedy that you are unfamiliar with the South Australian Outback, I should mention that temperature data being from Coober Pedy is justified by there being very little variation in topography. As a former sea-bed, it is flat as a pancake (see this photo, for example.) Therefore, there are few if any topographical influences on temperature in the region. I think the person who wrote the data into the infobox would have been aware that William Creek temperatures are very similar to those of Coober Pedy. - Thank you. I think that it is now quite clear. You are correct that I am unfamiliar, so I appreciate your patience. XabqEfdg (talk) 01:21, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
