Page Created!
[edit]I created this page because there are not many like it, and no main resource for wildlife on the islands of Saint Helena on wikipedia. It does however need updating, some of the links are wrong and hundreds of pages need creating for the various species that are found there. Here is a good resource, as we are lacking in the "Insects of Saint Helena" part: http://www.ascensionconservation.org.ac/wildlife.htm Segafreak2 13:37, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Rename?
[edit]There is some overlap with the Flora of St Helena article. Why not call this page the Fauna of St Helena and develop the Flora part in the other article: Flora of St Helena. The Flora and Fauna articles could then be complementary. This seems to me to be the best solution. Alternatively the two articles could be amalgamated??
- I have removed much of the listing of flora species as they are already duplicated in the Flora of St Helena article. Maias (talk) 03:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
move Ascension content to it's own page - Ascension scrub and grasslands
[edit]I've created a page for the World Wildlife Fund ecoregion - Ascension scrub and grasslands. I would like to copy or even move the Ascension content from this page to there. But that's only me. what does everyone think?
and similarly I have created Geography of Tristan da Cunha and would like to take content from this page over there too. Istanbuljohnm (talk) 22:16, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Poisonous vs Venomous
[edit]"The only poisonous animal on St Helena is the Isometrus maculatus, a scorpion from the family Buthidae" is included in this article. Is the intention to communicate that these animals have a venomous sting, or that their flesh is poisonous to humans if a human were to consume one, or both? 24.190.101.163 (talk) 17:39, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
