Buses

[edit]

Would anyone have a problem if I deleted the old bus information on route 19 from the transport section of this article? Its not really notable as it was only a few routes a day that served the village and there is already information on the article about the village's main bus service, route 6. Editor5807speak 09:39, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The last bus from Whitwell goes really early, so some information about it might be useful. I had to walk all the way back to Sandown.--Streona (talk) 17:24, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree some information would be good, so I have only removed the section on route 19, the route was withdrawn and hasn't served the village since late 2006 and even then only provided one journey per day. Editor5807speak 18:37, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just incase anyone objects, here is the information I deleted:

'The village was previously served by route 19, linking Ventnor to Newport via Rookley, however this route was discontinued after a timetable revision on 1 October 2006 when it was merged with the main route 6.' Editor5807speak 17:05, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whitwell Motorcycle Club

[edit]

Is the Whitwell Motorcycle Club really notable enough for inclusion in this article? I have had a good knowledge of the area for a number of years now and haven't heard it mentioned anywhere except on this article, I've certainly never seen any promotional signs or flyers anywhere. Except for the reference to the groups official website I have been unable to find any other material on the group online, so propose the information be deleted for now. Does anyone else have any views? Editor5807speak 20:47, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Particularly as the article is a GA, I have begun a process of removing citations from the lead paragraph where there is no need for them to be, to the main sections of the article, where they are needed. However as this represented a problem for the Whitwell Motorcycle Club sentence and reference, i have for the moment removed it. I am not completely certain it was notable enough to be included anyway, as mentioned above. Here was what I have removed:

" It is also the home of the Whitwell Motorcycle Club.[1]"

I hope others can see the sense in this but if not please do comment. Editor5807speak 11:15, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Local Website added

[edit]

I have added the local website for Whitwell (and Niton). Hope this satisfies all? It is directly linked to the village and its day to day activities. Any objections? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.67.246 (talk) 23:45, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The White Well or the Whit Well?

[edit]

The plaque at File:Plaque next to the White Well in Whitwell.JPG suggests that the spelling is "Whit". --Lord Belbury (talk) 11:40, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
