Does this article even make sense? Merger proposal

[edit]

Given that there are no good citations for this article or the citations don't contain the info they are suppose to be supporting, that the category 'white' in the article seems to confuse people of solely European ancestry with people with mixed ancestry (where do the 'racial' divisions in Guatemala exist anyway?), does it make sense to have this article rather than articles on specific ethnicities (German Guatemalan, Spaniards in Guatemala). --Erp (talk) 15:18, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Erp. Correct, the article has been misusing (mischaracterizing) its one reference. Further, the numerical data was also misquoted. Your point is well taken. Accordingly, I propose that this article should be merged to Demographics of Guatemala, which would benefit from the 2012 sourced data.
Community input based on Wikipedia guidelines regarding this proposal is requested. In the absence of dissent I will complete the proposed merger in aprx 10 days. FeatherPluma (talk) 01:14, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We now have some 2011 data from what may be a reasonable source. This weakens the impetus for merging, but the source's content is too spartan to support a full article. FeatherPluma (talk) 14:04, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I support the merger proposal. JimRenge (talk) 10:47, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As do I. --Erp (talk) 14:41, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. This article has not really grown worthy of being its own article. Many of these articles on the ethnic groups in Guatemala have little citations. They are not long enough to stand as their own articles, although this does not mean they cannot be part of another page. I will properly redirect the page to Demographics of Guatemala. I am also considering whether other articles should keep existing as well. A redirect would be appropriate. Viller the Great (talk) 08:59, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
