An example of this type of turbine is demonstrated on "Planet Mechanics" on Discovery channel in the episode "Surf Power", Featuring Dick Strawbridge —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.40.191.162 (talk) 12:54, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The section about who invented the Wells turbine seems to be wrong. According to McCormick (Ocean wave energy conversion, 1981), the turbine was described in 1978 by Whittaker and Wells. Klinteberg (talk) 08:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know what the units are here for the efficiency?? i.e. is is about 0.7% or is it 0.7 i.e. about 70%. My understanding is the efficiency is pretty low, aroud the 1% mark, but I'm no Welles turbine expert. If anyone does know, please edit this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrl98 (talkcontribs) 10:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- The efficiency is non-dimensional, ie 0.4-0.7 means 40-70% efficiency. / Klinteberg (talk) 13:09, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aha. Found a paper which could be referenced to show welles turbine efficiency: http://www.hindawi.com/getpdf.aspx?doi=10.1155/2007/51598 [1] 40% - 50% looks pretty reasonable. 70% might be pushing it a bit. Mrl98 (talk) 11:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)mrl98[reply]
