Established notability, career on Food Network, etc.
[edit]I did a complete revamp of this article. I know this talk page is almost 20 years old, but here goes:
NOTABILITY
There was some question of his notability. Aside from his books, I mentioned notable third-party sources speaking of Brachman, including Michael Symon and Bobby Flay. I also mentioned his award from 1998 and many media apearances, including as a host on Food Network in the early 2000s. Brachman also worked for 15 years as a manager (Executive Pastry Chef) for one of Food Network's biggest star's world-famous restaurant. He is very well-known in the food industry and, while perhaps not a household name, is still notable due to his media appearances and various third-party references to these appearances.
CAREER
I added quite a bit of background on his career, mainly focusing on the period from the late 1990s until roughly 2010 when he worked as a host on Food Network in addition to other media / celebrity chef type roles. I decided to focus on Brachman's established citable career as a celebrity chef from ca 1995 until ca 2010 since that's the main period for his notability as well as the part of his career that has direct citations and third-party references.
CITATIONS AND OLDER CONTENT
I removed the large template for citations and original research, but did put individual citation needed templates after some of the parts that were possible original research.
I left most of the older content and tried to build the article around it, but I did restructure the article a bit. I was able to find citations for some of the older content, but a few things still need citations. I left the citations needed template on these sections and will work on finding citations for these sections, but decided to leave them in the article itself since they are non-controversial and are known to be factually accurate. It's nothing that's a matter of debate or controversy, just a matter of conforming to Wikipedia's style guidelines.
In addition to finding some citations for the older content, I added lots of citations to reference the new content that I added.
PICTURE & AGE
If someone could find a picture to add, that would be great. I'll continue to work on that as well. There are a few floating around the internet, but I'm hoping to find one with a free license rather than resorting to fair use.
I found a PDF of his high school commencement in 1969, which would mean he was born sometime around 1950 - 1953, but I don't want to guess on his age or do original research, so I'll keep looking on that front as well. BalearicSlinger (talk) 00:56, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia articles must be based on reliable sources to establish notability, and the author has not provided any ... without them, this is just original research, which is prohibited by official policy. —72.75.73.158 (talk · contribs) 13:03, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
PROD redux
[edit]Today I noticed that Gale Gand, an article that I had PRODed, went redlinked, meaning that it had been deleted after the PROD expired ... the talk page was retained, however, apparently because the article was moved to a sandbox for later recreation, which is fine with me.
While doing a final look-see before I could MOVE ON, I noticed this article was also created by Danielaidan (talk · contribs), and that I had PRODed both of them on 5 May 2007 ... upon examining this article's history, I see that an expired prod was removed @ 03:51, 12 May 2007 by Stephen (talk · contribs) with only an edit summary:
rm prod, Seems legit by the books available under his name at Amazon.com
I can only infer from that comment that Stephen is not one of the Administrators, otherwise they would have known that for Notability purposes, "The number of works published by an author is not the same (or as relavent) as the number of works published by others about the author."
Rather than being a decline of the expired prod by an admin, I suspect that Some Other Editor simply removed an expired PROD before it had a chance to percolate through the backlog and get noticed ... regardless, I assume that the clock must be restarted ... I'll have to ask the admin who deleted the other article created by the same editor before I proceed.
In light of my new protocol described in What to do when a speedy delete tag is removed, I am going to follow my Warn-bio sandbox protocol and stick another {{prod}}
on it ... if nothing else, it will give me a chance to try out my new boilerplates for courtesy warning messages ... let's call this message "Step Zero" and we'll see what happens this time. —68.239.79.82 13:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
