Anyone know what happened on Wang's emergence from the consulate?

[edit]

I have seen a couple sources mention that there was a fight between competing factions of security forces to seize Wang when he left the Chengdu consulate. Unfortunately, these sources tend to be of a blog (or Weibo) nature. Does anyone know of RS that have commented on this rumor? Homunculus (duihua) 18:29, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More to the point: should the incident with Wang Lijun have its own page, separate from his biography? I ask because I wanted to include some analysis on the implications of the event (for Bo Xilai's career, among other things), but that does not seem to fit within a biographic article. The event is certainly notable enough, though I'm not sure what we could call it..."Wang Lijun's mysterious journey to the American consulate in Chengdu and subsequent 'therapeutic leave' in Beijing"?Homunculus (duihua) 18:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

China's parliament

[edit]

Re this precision... I did not dare. The SCMP wasn't clear as to which body he was appointed to, so I left it as "China's Parliament". I wish the journalists could be more careful than that – it's plain sloppiness like this that dumbs down the readership with a corresponding loss of information. Perhaps the SCMP is trying to turn itself into a tabloid. ;-) --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 02:13, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per [1], it is the NPC. ZZArch talk to me 02:18, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'Wang Lijun incident'?

[edit]

Shouldn't there be an article on "王立军事件", like every other storm in Chinese-teacup? The Sound and the Fury (talk) 23:38, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See Wang Lijun incident. I just created it, so right now it's largely copied from this article. More needs to be said of the aftermath and implications of the event, and so on. Also, some of that stuff (eg. internet reaction) can be removed from this page.Homunculus (duihua) 01:00, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
