[edit]Can we somehow trim down the blow-by-blow description of the end of the WHCP newscasts? I'm not sure anything past "they had a newscast, it stunk, it died a controversial death" should last in an encyclopedic setting. Do people reading years from now really need to know the Chinese food thing or whose idea it was?
I've also removed the link to the fake MySpace profile of WHCP's now-former anchor. I can't believe that it was allowed to stay up nearly three weeks! When people cite problems with Wikipedia, it's stuff like this that makes them feel justified, IMHO. The site is a profane joke/rant that could very well put the site's creator in the legal crosshairs of the former anchor's lawyers. MPWard 22:46, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
While the article has been cleaned up a bit there are several items that are completely false and the article is heavily biased. However, all attempts to remove false information have resulted it in it's restoration... this page merely exists to continue with it's libel. Yes, this is one of many reasons why people will never take wikipedia seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.62.58.28 (talk) 07:51, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Logo
[edit]Is the logo used in the infobox the logo they are actually using? The website shows a completely different logo. --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 00:17, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- The logo in the box, and now the new WQCW one I made is the logo they use on screen. I uploaded the WHCP logo a few months back and I got it from the website. The logo on the website is their logo from before the current style. -- FPAtl (holla) 14:02, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
New logo
[edit]I'm live in the market area and I've notice wikipedia's logo for it. It's not black, white, and gray, it's green and white. Can someone get the logo with the logo colored? Thank you. Spongefan, 2:04 October 17 2006 (UTC)
I live in the market too and I created the current logo on the page and made the colors black and white so the logo can be easily seen. Alucard 16 06:10, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

WRLO/WUXA
[edit]I edited this article a few days ago to flesh out some of the past history of the channel 30 allocation in Portsmouth. I would need to do more research (or, rather, collect articles and other information that I've read on the subject) before I attempt a longer explanation with proper attribution, but it went through two incarnations (fairly sure they weren't the same owner but I wouldn't stake my life on it) before WHCP/WQCW came along.
The first one was WRLO in the mid-1960s. They had a flea-power signal, a smaller coverage area even than present-day WZTP-LP-50, but they were carried on some surrounding cable systems per Television Factbook. At the outset they were going to try to obtain network programming on a per-program basis from ABC, CBS, and NBC (perhaps hoping to become another WIMA, WTAP, or WHIZ, viz. an infill station and possibly the core of a mini-market), but to my knowledge that never happened. They did have a weather report and may or may not have had news. WRLO did not stay around long.
The second one was WUXA in the mid-1980s. Somehow they managed to get themselves listed in the West Virginia TV Guide. They operated as an independent, I don't know anything about their programming, but they didn't last long either. 2600:1702:59B0:2A30:78CC:3E9A:6D18:711B (talk) 00:51, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
