Some thoughts on the Reception Section
[edit]I decided to add a discussion topic instead of editing myself because edits on this section in the past have lead to arguments. First I was wondering why talk of the editing should take up so much space considering most of it is just conspiracy theories that have been denied by one of the showrunners? And second I do think it is a problem that most of the section is just reviews of season one and eight with not many in-between or overall reviews. Here’s a few examples of coverage that people may or may not decide to use - https://www.vox.com/culture/2017/8/26/16106306/voltron-legendary-defender-netflix-season-3-review https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2018/12/voltron-legendary-defender-netflix-avatar-korra-fi.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/comic-riffs/wp/2017/01/31/voltron-has-never-been-better-than-it-is-right-now/ I’m gonna leave this so everyone else can decide whether something should be done or not. These were just some thoughts I had. Max1057 (talk) 02:02, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree with you on the editing "conspiracy theories." If you can find articles where the showrunners stated that much if not all of that is false, that would be great. I would leave what's currently there but then add the sourced sentence(s) where the showrunners deny these "theories." Also, feel free to add the extra reviews that do not involve Seasons 1 and 8. G. Here’s another article I think we should probably consider adding to the reception section - https://decider.com/2018/12/13/voltron-legendary-defender-season-8/ I also think we should reconsider whether GeekDad and the Geekiary are reputable sources, my argument is outlined up in the section right above this one. Max1057 (talk) 03:01, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
Regarding GeekDad Wikipedia user SMcCandlish is quoted as saying “GeekDad (the only publisher mentioned) does not appear to be a reliable source; it's a clickbait "content farm" which doesn't even have a search feature, and just consists of advertising and (when you can even tell the difference) ephemeral pop-culture posts by random-nobody users of the site (WP:UGC). It's fans writing for other fans about fancruft.” So why is GeekDad still being sourced in the reception section? Plus the Geekery also meets this description, the writer of the article sourced has only ever written this article and has not written anything else. Therefore both GeekDad and the Geekery should be removed from the reception section. Max1057 (talk) 01:28, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
Sean Z and GeekDad should be removed as a trusted source!
[edit]Sean Z has not only attacked the Voltron showrunners again, but is now attacking the She-Ra creators. At the same time he’s decided to ignore actual abuse allegations against Aaron Ehasz. This article like his previous one is purposely taking things out of context and leaving certain information out. He also purposely misnamed two people in the article as to bait a response from them, therefore I say that we should remove him from the reception section as a trusted source. https://geekdad.com/2020/01/baitworks-how-dreamworks-engaged-in-predatory-marketing-towards-lgbt-fans/ Max1057 (talk) 23:25, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
She-Ra crew members have now come out and disputed the article published by GeekDad and Sean Z as well as other professionals in the reporting industry. Therefore I think this is all the evidence we need that GeekDad and Sean Z are not a trustworthy source, so I am going to remove their review from the page. https://twitter.com/msshanelynch/status/1214991278775001088?s=21 Max1057 (talk) 02:00, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
It's been awhile since I've written here but I realised that there were some things that happened that I hadn't mentioned. After the final season of She-Ra came out and proved that the article Sean Z wrote was false, GeekDad retracted the article and posted an apology. Sean Z also no longer works for GeekDad.[1] I also discovered the web archive link for the misleading article https://web.archive.org/web/20200108182920/https://geekdad.com/2020/01/baitworks-how-dreamworks-engaged-in-predatory-marketing-towards-lgbt-fans/ be careful in the future not to cite anything from Donya Abramo, Renee Ann Drouin and of course Sean Z himself. All three contributed to the misleading article. Max1057 (talk) 12:16, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
How do you know the height of Voltron?
[edit]The height of Voltron is not mentioned in any reliable source. SO HOW DID YOU GET IT? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IFvoltronwasadragon... (talk • contribs) 21:40, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
What Year is Earth In
[edit]I have been watching the show for months and I have been trying to figure out what year it was on earth. I am pretty sure that it is about 2060 because some things are still the same and world war 3 happened. If you agree with me it’s okay also the season and episode is, season 7 episode 8. 75.108.49.87 (talk) 19:50, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
