Voitto Hellstén → Voitto Hellsten – I request that the article name be changed according to his official name, as shown here: [1] (official presentation webpage as a Finnish politician). Thanks in advance. Paracel63 (talk) 17:52, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- The WP convention for Finnish politicians, and indeed all Finns, is that their names retain diacritics. I believe it is important for neutrality and encyclopaedic accuracy not to lose the letters with diacritics, which are letters in their own right. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 09:52, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Rename request again
[edit]Hello! Sorry to hear about your decision. Did you read the source reference for the name? He did not spell his name with an accent. Not everyone does, not in Sweden or in Finland. The spelling on his senatorial presentation page as well as the spelling in the official Olympic report of 1956 (found here) are my two main sources. Which are yours?--Paracel63 (talk) 17:59, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
About the naming
[edit]The spelling of his surname is consistently spelled as Hellsten in Swedish and Finnish sources.[1][2][3] That spelling is also used in the official report of the 1956 Summer Olympics.[4]

Voitto Hellstén → Voitto Hellsten – The spelling used by 5 out of 6 sources in the article, including all sources in the two national languages of Finland plus the official program for the 1956 Summer Olympics. Also see the gravestone and this genealogical note. Paracel63 (talk) 20:17, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
- Support I think nom is correct that there are no diacritics in the native version of the subject's name. We do not put in diacritics for their own sake. -- Ohc ¡digame! 20:58, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
