Tutting
[edit]Isn't this the "tutting" sound people make to express disappointment? — ciphergoth 13:03, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- No, that's a dental click. kwami 01:26, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
"Explicitly recognized?"
[edit]Both the page on IPA and this page state that the Unicode symbol is not "explicitly recognized" by the IPA, but is supported in the Unicode Phonetics Extension Supplement. Should the phrasing be "not officially recognized"? Explicit recognition doesn't make sense in this situation. If the phrasing should be changed, let me know and I can change it on both pages. Thanks. — Jclu (talk) 18:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
"not been confirmed to exist and to be phonemically distinct in any language"
[edit]What is the reference for this?? Oromo has this sound and it is phonemic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.1.219.143 (talk) 21:09, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
Unicode description
[edit]"a D with a tail for retroflex and a hook-top for implosive": very unclear. First, it can't be a 'D', it should be a 'd'; second, afaict there is no "hook top" in Unicode. So how do you write this in Unicode? Mcswell (talk) 23:19, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- This doesn't answer your question, but the symbol has got its own article – D with hook and tail – which gives a tiny bit more context. – Uanfala 23:56, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
