Vogelsang, meaning
[edit]The translation of "Vogelsang" in the article:
The German word "vogelsang" can be translated as "a meadow in which birds sing"
is a pure invention and wouldn't be better with two scientificly doubtful references. "Vogelsang" means "the singing of birds" and is a well known family name in Germany. The most famous Vogelsang is one of the masters in the opera by Richard Wagner "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" ("The Master-Singers of Nuremberg"). --Cantakukuruz (talk) 12:14, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]The US Geographic Names Board Decision List for Yosemite names published in 1932 states this peak was named by Benson for Alex T. Vogelsang. Ron Clausen (talk) 05:24, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
