Where the term VISA really came from
The term VISA was originated by the McLean County Bank in Bloomington IL. It stands for Vacation Investment Savings Account. Bank of America paid for the use of the name and allowed them to continue using it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.18.56.93 (talk) 17:13, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
- I would like to see confirmed evidence for this statement. David J Johnson (talk) 20:18, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
- Regarding origin of Visa. Any other references are circumstantial based on the organization website. Jatibi (talk) 20:22, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
New 2015 Logo
This page shows an amalgamation of the current visa logo and the past logo, calling it the "2015 visa logo". Is there any evidence that this logo is used anywhere by Visa? I can't find any picture of it on the visa corporate website. Sockpuppet9012 (talk · contribs)
- @Sockpuppet9012: For an authoritative example of "amalgamation" see here: http://www.visa.ca/merchant/resources/visa-debit/pdf/visa-debit-best-practices.pdf, or the "product identifier" link on http://www.visa.ca/merchant/products-and-services/visa-debit/index.jsp. A similar Visa guidance in Polish can be found here: http://www.payu.pl/sites/default/files/pliki_graficzne/visa_new.zip.
- For live use, see here: [2], [3], [4]. Agreed that this is still far from global, and maybe adding the image was too soon for most markets. However, the new logotype does exist, is authoritative and is being rolled out. Hope this clarifies. Regards, kashmiri TALK 17:52, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Most importantly, look closely at the image here: [5] and in the 2014 Annual Report of Visa Europe, page 6 [6]. kashmiri TALK 17:52, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Guys, that's the Visa acceptance logo as used in certain markets and not the general logo used by Visa, Inc. Oh well, at least this has clarified it for me. Sockpuppet9012 (talk) 18:29, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, that's why I did not change the company logo in the Infobox - it is only card logos and acceptance logos that are being replaced for now. kashmiri TALK 22:02, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
