"Orientalist acquaintances"

There is a very odd segue between first and second paras of section on Fane's Early Career which drops her parents "orientalist acquaintances" into the first line without in any way suggesting who they might have been or why they were "orientalist". Preceding para was entirely about UK and there are no clickable links to her parents' names to find out more.
