Nice job

[edit]

Don't forget to nominate the article for DYK. I will add picture soon. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 15:52, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, we need another 212 characters of text to do that. Though we still have 5 days to add that. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 16:05, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mixed doubles

[edit]

Something's wrong with that final. According to the Australian open site he only reached the semifinals losing to Dorothy Round and Fred Perry. Can you confirm that? Lajbi Holla @ meCP 16:15, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Had seen the Australian Open website MX draw. It's great that they have all the draws (wish the other Grand Slam tournaments would follow) but it seems their draw for the 1935 MX is simply wrong. Added three reliable sources (Bob Collins and Max Robertson's encyclopedias + Sydney Morning Herald) which indicate that Vernon Kirby reached the final and not, as their draw indicates, only the semifinal. A while ago I noticed they also had an error for Henner Henkel. Will send them a notification and see what happens.--Wolbo (talk) 20:43, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you are probably right. Nice catch. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 11:59, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

According to the tree put together by his own family on Ancestry, Vernon Gordon Kirby died in Perth in 1994. However, it doesn't have any sources attached to it to verify this, so we can't use it on the page. Thought I would mention it so editors can keep their eyes peeled for a mention elsewhere. What's odd is I can't find a death record in the Australian death registers. It's possible he died under an alias or it was recorded under an alternate spelling. Strange nonetheless.--Jkaharper (talk) 23:34, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
